WILL GRAHAM EMBRACE OBAMACARE AND PELOSI IN SOUTH FLORIDA?
Having Received Endorsements From The DCCC And The Liberal Wing Of The Democratic Party, Will Dean-Kerry Dem. Gwen Graham Embrace Obamacare And Nancy Pelosi For Speaker?
STATEMENT FROM RPOF CHAIRMAN LENNY CURRY: “Dean-Kerry Democrat Gwen Graham has been endorsed by the liberal wing of the Democratic Party and supported by her Washington buddies. As she raises more money with South Florida liberals today, will she finally publicly embrace Obamacare and pledge her vote for Nancy Pelosi as speaker, even though it puts her at odds with North Florida voters?”

GRAHAM TAKES MONEY FROM EXTREME LIBERAL GROUPS BUT AVOIDS PUBLICLY STATING POSITIONS AT ODDS WITH FLORIDA VOTERS
THE TAMPA BAY TIMES: “The Last Thing Graham Would Want In Running For A District Like This Is To Be Portrayed As A Radical Liberal. So She Answers Questions Like ‘Would She Support Nancy Pelosi As Speaker?’ ‘I Don’t Want To Take A Position In Advance Of Actually Knowing Who The Leadership Will Be At The Time.’” (Michael Van Sickler, “Graham Not Taking Shots At Southerland Just Yet,” The Tampa Bay Times, 7/16/13)
Nancy Pelosi’s Political Arm “Taking Sides” In “Touting Attorney Gwen Graham” Even Though She May Face Al Lawson Who Is Frustrated “With National Party’s Support For Graham.” “In Florida’s 2nd District, the DCCC recruited and touted attorney Gwen Graham, the daughter of former Sen. and Gov. Bob Graham. She potentially faces a primary from former state Sen. Al Lawson, who has lost two bids for the seat held by GOP Rep. Steve Southerland II. Lawson has not yet made an announcement about the race, but he’s publicly expressed frustration with the national party’s support for Graham in news interviews, including with CQ Roll Call. Lawson did not return request for comment for this story.” (Emily Cahn, “DCCC Taking Sides In 2014 Primaries,” Roll Call, 9/11/13)
BUT GRAHAM WORKED FOR TWO RADICALLY LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES, HOWARD DEAN AND JOHN KERRY, TO POSITION HERSELF FOR FUTURE ELECTED OFFICE
NOVEMBER 2003: Gwen Graham Joined Howard Dean’s Presidential Campaign As Paid “National Surrogate And Southern Regional Adviser,” Acknowledging That “Elected Office Could Be In Her Future Too.” “U.S. Sen. Bob Graham might be preparing to leave public office after decades dominating Florida politics, but it appears a new Graham has caught the political bug. His eldest daughter, Gwen Graham Logan, is joining Howard Dean’s presidential campaign as a paid ‘national surrogate and Southern regional adviser’ and acknowledges that elected office could be in her future too. ‘I got the bug because our country needs to have a change, and I want to be part of the process. We cannot have four more years of President Bush,’ said Logan, 40, who got to know Dean while campaigning for her father and last week visited Dean’s campaign headquarters in Vermont. ‘I’ve seen firsthand the energy and commitment and excitement of the Dean campaign.’” (Adam C. Smith, “Graham’s Daughter Joins Dean’s Campaign,”The St. Petersburg Times, 11/25/03)
JUNE 2004: Gwen Graham Joined The Florida Democratic Party To Serve As “National Campaign Liaison With John Kerry’s Presidential Campaign,” Noting “She Has Her Own Political Ambitions Down The Road.” “A fresh face with a familiar name could be one answer for Florida Democrats starved for new candidates capable of helping the party regain political clout. U.S. Sen. Bob Graham’s oldest daughter, Gwen, has taken a key role with the state Democratic Party in this presidential election year when her father’s Senate seat is also up for grabs upon his retirement. The 41-year-old mother of three is the state party’s national campaign liaison with John Kerry’s presidential campaign with added responsibilities of trying to keep her father’s seat in Democratic hands. And while Gwen Graham is helping others during this year’s election cycle, she has her own political ambitions down the road – possibly a congressional run in 2006 from her family’s South Florida base.” (Brent Kallestad, “Bob Graham’s Daughter Steps Into Political Arena,” The Associated Press, 6/10/04)
Sunshine State News: “Gwen Graham’s Moderate Facade Can’t Hide The Liberals Behind Her.” “Gwen Graham is taking a page out of her father’s political playbook for her congressional campaign in talking about going to the middle while dancing to the left … But, despite her rhetoric, Graham is getting help from liberal groups and Democrat partisans … She still has ties to Dean’s camp, including having his strategist Joe Trippi on her payroll as a campaign adviser and has sent thousands his way. Graham is also getting the support of Emily’s List, a large PAC dedicated to electing pro-choice Democrats to office.” (Jeff Henderson, “Gwen Graham’s Moderate Facade Can’t Hide The Liberals Behind Her,” Sunshine State News, 7/17/13)
