TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Career Center will host its Spring 2014 Career Expo on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the Alfred Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium.
More than 65 companies and agencies will have recruiters on site, including Allstate, Edward Jones, the Federal Aviation Administration, Johnson & Johnson, Nielsen, Macy’s, PepsiCo and Regions Bank.
Annually, approximately 150 business organizations and Fortune 500 companies from the local, state, non-profit and governmental industries send representatives to FAMU’s Career Expo.
The expo is open to all FAMU students and alumni, as well as the general public. Professional attire and a résumé are required for admission to the expo.
“It’s an opportunity for students and alumni to network with employers, get to know what they have to offer and find out what jobs are coming here to campus,” said Delores Dean, Ph.D., director of the FAMU Career Center. “These companies and corporations also provide scholarships, so it will help attendees out a great deal if they participate.”
On Jan. 28, in preparation of the expo, the Career Center will offer interview, professional attire and résumé training until 5 p.m.
A networking reception will precede the expo on Jan. 28 in FAMU’s Grand Ballroom. The reception begins at 6 p.m. and is open to job seekers who wish to dine with company representatives or FAMU faculty and staff.
