Efforts will affect 14 bridges county wide
Volusia County – Repair and restoration work on more than one dozen bridge structures across Volusia County is scheduled to begin Monday, February 10, 2014. In all, a total of 14 bridges are scheduled to be cleaned, sealed, and striped, with construction efforts scheduled to last until the summer of 2014.
Local residents and motorists should be aware that assorted lane closures will be scheduled over the course of this project, possibly affecting drive time and posted speed limits within project corridors. Construction work will affect travelers on US 1, SR 44, SR 40, and SR A1A.
Construction efforts on select structures will also continue during the overnight hours due to various lane closure restrictions. These structures are SR 40 (over Halifax River IWW), SR A1A (over Halifax River IWW), SR 44 (over Indian River IWW), and SR 44 (over Indian River IWW).
In addition, new traffic lane striping is scheduled to be applied to all affected bridges in mid- summer 2014. Please note that while all construction work is scheduled to proceed as advised, inclement weather and other similar events may be cause for delays.
