FLORIDA CELEBRATES EARTH DAY THROUGH STATEWIDE ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will celebrate Earth Day throughout the coming week with a slew of activities in our state parks and aquatic preserves. These activities will offer Floridians and visitors opportunities to volunteer, learn and enjoy the diverse ecosystems that make up our state.

Established in 1970, April 22 will mark the 44th annual Earth Day and remind all of us about the importance of our role in protecting the environment. Many state parks and aquatic preserves will host activities from this weekend through April 27 in celebration of the event, expanding the influence of the event’s original philosophy.

This week’s Earth Day events are offer something for everyone. Ranging from beach cleanup efforts to celebratory festivals, events for all those interested in protecting and recognizing the importance of advocating for our ecosystems are available to the general public.
