I-75 from SR 78 to Charlotte County line: Construction project: This project expands I-75 to six lanes. Roadway crews are scheduled to install drainage features, finish grading in the medians and outside shoulders, install guardrail and place sod. During the week of Monday, April 21, crews will work on preparations for painting the new bridge girders. The following week, crews will paint the new bridge girders on the I-75 bridges over SR 78/Bayshore Road. This work requires nighttime/overnight partial and full roadway closures on SR 78/Bayshore Road, during nighttime/overnight hours of 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 27 through Friday, May 2.
- Motorists traveling eastbound on SR 78 must use I-75 south to exit at SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard (exit #141), re-enter I-75 northbound to exit at SR 78/Bayshore Road (exit #143).
- Drivers traveling westbound on SR 78 must use I-75 north to exit at Tuckers Grade (exit #158), re-enter I-75 southbound to exit at SR 78/Bayshore Road (exit #143).
Signs will mark the detour. Law enforcement will be on-site. Drivers should pay attention to traffic signs and barricades throughout the construction project, maintain a safe speed, stay alert, and use caution in the work zone. Weather permitting, estimated completion is summer 2014. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries.
