Governor Rick Scott Appoints Melanie Peterson to
South Florida Water Management District

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Melanie Peterson to the South Florida Water Management District.

Peterson, 37, of Wellington, is a realtor with Sotheby’s International Realty. She currently serves on the board of directors of Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau. She previously served as a supervisor of the Palm Beach Soil and Water Conservation District and is a member of the Loxahatchee River Management Coordinating Council and the Florida Farm Bureau’s Statewide Equine Industry Advisory Board. Peterson received her bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. She succeeds Timothy Sargent, and is appointed for a term beginning June 20, 2014 and ending March 1, 2018.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
