Florida National Guard to honor Live Oak, Fla., native
Maj. Gen. James “Don” Tyre upon his retirement

WHAT: A military retreat ceremony will be held to honor Maj. Gen. James “Don” Tyre, Assistant Adjutant General for the Florida Army National Guard, who is retiring after more than 45 years of military service.  Tyre, a native of Live Oak, Fla., is a fifth-generation Soldier who can trace his family’s military lineage back to his great-great-grandfather, who served with the first Florida militia during the Seminole Wars from 1836-1838.

WHEN: 4 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014. Media are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the event. Media members will have the opportunity to conduct interviews immediately following the ceremony.

WHERE: Florida National Guard Headquarters, St. Francis Barracks, 82 Marine St., St. Augustine, Fla., 32084.

**NOTE: In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to Robert F. Ensslin armory, located at 2305 State Road 207, St. Augustine, Fla., 32086.  For last-minute information on the status and location of the ceremony, please call (904) 484-4434.
