on Community Disaster and Emergency Response
QUINCY, FL – The 3rd annual Rural County Summit in Havana, Fla. will focus on Community Disaster and Emergency Response. More than 100 law enforcement professionals, school district administrators, emergency management and first responders from Escambia to Columbia County are scheduled to attend the event. The Summit is July 9th – 11th, 2014 at Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy.
The Summit is organized by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
Sessions include: 2013 Flooding Boulder County Colorado, 2013 Wildfire Yarnell Hill Arizona, 2013 Fertilizer Plant Explosion West Texas, 2011 Blue Ribbon Wildfire North Florida, and Post Traumatic Stress.
Speakers include: Tommy Sloan (Division or Operations Chief), Mike Chard (Boulder Co. EM Director), Jim Karels (Director/State Forester, Florida Forest Service), and Glenn Brown (Yavapai County Fire Chief President)
Because of the security information presented in these sessions, most of the Summit is closed to the media and public.
To accommodate reporters who wish to cover the story, a media availability is scheduled on Wednesday, July 9th from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. In addition, opening remarks will be open to the media.
