MEDIA ADVISORY
FIRST LADY CONTINUES SUMMER LITERACY ADVENTURE AT
CAMP HELEN STATE PARK IN PANAMA CITY BEACH

Tallahassee, Fla., July 21, 2014 – Tomorrow, Florida First Lady Ann Scott will visit Camp Helen State Park in Panama City Beach as she continues the 2014 Summer Literacy Adventure. This is the fourth consecutive year First Lady Scott has participated in the Summer Literacy Adventure.

WHAT: First Lady to read to more than 40 children and encourage them to keep reading all summer

WHEN: Tuesday, July 22, 2014 – 10 a.m.

WHERE: Camp Helen State Park
23937 Panama City Beach Parkway
Panama City Beach

Research shows that children who do not continue reading through the summer can lose a month or more of progress made during the school year. By encouraging their children to read, parents are playing a critical role in achieving Florida’s goal of having every child reading at or above grade level.

Children can pledge to make summer reading a real-life adventure at 2014 Summer Literacy Adventure.
