LEE COUNTY

I-75 from SR 78 to Charlotte County line:  Construction project:  This project expands I-75 to six lanes. Crews will be performing final paving operations.

  • I-75 northbound (exit #143) entrance ramp at SR 78/Bayshore Road will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday night July 27 for paving operations, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured to I-75 southbound to (exit #141) SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard or SR 31 to SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard and back onto I-75 northbound. Signs will direct drivers through the detour.
  • I-75 southbound (exit #143) exit ramp at SR 78/Bayshore Road will be partially closed from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and fully closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday night, July 28 for paving operations, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured locally and to (exit #141) SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard and back onto I-75 northbound. Signs will direct drivers through the detour.
  • I-75 southbound (exit #143) entrance ramp at SR 78/Bayshore Road will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday night, July 29 for paving operations, weather permitting. Signs will direct drivers east on SR 78 to SR 31, south on SR 31 to west on SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard to I-75 southbound (exit #141) entrance ramp.
  • I-75 northbound (exit #143) exit ramp at SR 78/Bayshore Road will be partially closed from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and fully closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday night, July 30 for paving operations, weather permitting. Signs will direct drivers off I-75 (exit #141) east onto SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard, to north on SR 31, to west on SR 78/Bayshore Road.

Motorists should expect to encounter overnight lane closures on I-75 between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. from Thursday, July 31 to Saturday, August 2 for paving operations. Drivers should pay attention to detour routes, traffic signs and barricades throughout the construction project, maintain a safe speed, stay alert, and use caution in the work zone. Estimated completion is late summer 2014. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries.
