Shares Report that Synthetic Drug Use by Teens is Down

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.— Attorney General Pam Bondi today convened Jacksonville area law enforcement and drug prevention leaders to share that synthetic drug use among teens is down and to discuss law enforcement matters specific to the Jacksonville area. According to the 14th Annual Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey released this Spring, synthetic drug use among high school students decreased by 60 percent from 2012 to 2013.

“We now have information that helps us better understand the extent of synthetic drug use and evaluate our efforts,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “I was pleased to join Jacksonville area law enforcement and drug prevention leaders to share that our efforts to protect youth from these deadly drugs are working.”

Attorney General Bondi is dedicated to protecting Floridians from dangerous synthetic drugs, and she has continuously worked with the Legislature to ban emergent synthetic drugs.

The following entities participated in the event: Drug Enforcement Administration, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Duval County Sheriff’s Office, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Orange Park Police Department, St. Augustine Beach Police Department, State Attorney 4th Circuit, University of Florida, Office of Statewide Prosecution, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and North Florida, Central and South Florida HIDTA.
