UNF Continuing Education Offers First Ever Innovation Class

The UNF Division of Continuing Education announced today that it will introduce a first-of-its-kind course this fall called “Creating a Culture of Innovation.” Len Ferman founder of Ferman Innovation, a Jacksonville consulting firm, will lend his subject-matter expertise as he leads the three-week course.

“The ability to innovate is critical to the success of all organizations,” said Ferman. “There is a common misperception that you must be a visionary, like Steve Jobs, in order to innovate. The fact is, great innovation flows from a process that anyone can learn.”

The course, designed to provide corporate managers with the toolset and skills necessary to enable their companies to innovate, will be taught in three half-day sessions over the period of three weeks, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 10, and concluding Wednesday, Sept. 24.

“It will combine classroom learning with hands-on skill development,” said Tim Giles, director of Continuing Education. “This will allow students to more easily understand and implement the tools of innovation in their companies. They will use real world applications.”

Ferman holds a MBA and M.A. in economics from Duke University. Prior to founding Ferman Innovation, he spent 26 years managing innovation at Fortune 100 companies, including Bank of America where he led the front end of innovation process. He is a frequent speaker at major business conferences on innovation.

The course is presently open for registration. For more information or to register free information session Thursday, Aug. 28, call (904) 620-4231.
