Ruling: Sheldon Meets Residency Requirement
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Chief Judge Charles A. Francis of the Circuit Court in Leon County ruled Friday that George Sheldon meets all constitutional requirements to serve as attorney general of Florida.
His ruling from the bench will be followed by a formal written order.
“If anyone who answered a call to serve their country were disqualified from holding statewide office, it is the whole state that would be the loser,” said Sheldon, who served for three years in Washington as acting assistant secretary for Children and Families.
“Judge Francis has put this issue to rest so that we can focus on the urgent issues facing the people of Florida.”
