Florida Department of Transportation Announces Public Meeting for Roundabout Project in Polk County:
State Road 33 at Deen Still Road
Bartow, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the community and travelers to a public information meeting about safety improvements to the State Road 33 (SR 33) at Deen Still Road intersection. The meeting is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Polk City Community Activity Center, 203 Lakeshore Drive, Polk City, Florida. It is an open house that allows attendees to view displays and discuss the work one-on-one with members of the project team.
Project Information: FDOT will modify SR 33 at Deen Still Road intersection into a roundabout. The project will improve intersection safety, reduce risk of crashes, and improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety at the intersection.
The project includes:
- Reconstructing a 4-leg intersection to a single lane roundabout
- Installing a raised central island in the roundabout, with truck apron
- Installing pedestrian refuge islands
- Installing roundabout lighting
Construction Information: Construction should begin early Fall 2015.
