Florida TaxWatch To Announce Six Top-Performing
Principals in Florida High-Risk Schools
Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida TaxWatch Center for Educational Performance & Accountability, in partnership with the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University, will announce the six recipients of the 2014 Principal Leadership Awards. The annual awards program recognizes the top performing principals in Florida based on student achievement gains in reading and mathematics in high-risk schools.
The top two principals within the elementary, middle and high school levels across the state were identified using established statewide assessment data from the Florida Department of Education’s Data Warehouse. Award winners will be recognized at a dinner in Orlando on October 16, 2014.

The Principal Leadership Awards is part of the larger Florida TaxWatch Principal Leadership Initiative. The goal of the Initiative is to improve student achievement in high-risk schools and close the achievement gap by studying the identified principals and changing state policies to reflect their successful practices.
