Yesterday, Newsweek published a devastating article detailing how Trump allegedly violated the United States’ trade embargo with Cuba – a violation of the law. While Trump was allegedly violating the sanctions, Trump was lying to the public, telling the New York Post, “I could earn millions of dollars in Cuba. But I prefer to lose those millions than to lose my self-respect,” and saying in his book that “Cuba will be freed by ideas, not by rapacious businessmen lining Castro’s pockets and propping up his oppressive regime.”
It’s just another example of Trump looking out for himself at the expense of everyone else – this time the national interest. Trump’s campaign is still reeling from revelations that he wrote an illegal $25,000 check to a committee backing Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who then decided not investigate the fraudulent Trump University for scamming hard-working people, including veterans and gold star families. And to add insult to injury, Trump’s so-called charity isn’t much of a charity – it’s a slush fund where’s been using other people’s money to pay off law enforcement officials and fend off his legal problems.
