About Face, a dropout prevention program sponsored by the Department of Military Affairs, and delivered across Florida locations by Career Training Concepts, will now serve students at the Jean Ribault Middle School, 3610 Ribault Scenic Drive, Jacksonville, Florida. About Face helps students master their academic school work, and also teaches life coping and management skills so that students can focus and be successful in school.
In addition to students normally served by About Face at this location, the program will be working in cooperation with “TEAM UP” to further serve the at-risk students in Duval County. Like About Face, TEAM UP is an after-school program that provides a safe environment for students to participate in cheerleading, dance, modeling, recreation, sports and cultural enrichment.
The Jacksonville Children’s Commission oversees and is the primary funding source for TEAM UP, with additional program funding provided by The Jacksonville Journey and the 21st Century Community Learning Center. Whenever necessary, TEAM UP students that would also benefit from academic and life skills training will be referred to the About Face program at this Jacksonville location.
