MIAMI, Fla. — Last night, Pam Bondi and her Democrat opponent faced off in their final debate of the election for Florida’s next Attorney General. The debate was hosted by the reputable Univision 23 Miami, the premier Spanish-language network, with political reporters Sandra Peebles and Mario Andres Moreno moderating the discussion.
“It is incredible to me that my opponent can still defend the federal health care mandate and still pledges to drop the lawsuit challenging it if he were to be elected Attorney General. The federal health care mandate is unconstitutional and would put our state in debt to an excess of a billion dollars annually. The people of our state don’t want and can’t afford this law,” said Pam Bondi.
The moderator’s questions ranged from topics such as gangs, pill mills, immigration, and the foreclosure crisis in our state, and put Mr. Gelber in the hot seat for his position on the health care law and his support of the automatic restoration of all felon voting rights except in capital cases; including dangerous felons that have committed crimes such as rape.
“Pam clearly dominated the debate and showed a strong knowledge of the issues affecting the lives of everyday citizens. As our next Attorney General, Pam is committed to keeping citizens safe, standing-up for our constitutional rights against the federal healthcare law, and protecting our economy and jobs in any way possible,” said Brett Doster, campaign consultant for the Bondi Campaign.
Bondi has had a significant lead in the polls in the general election, with the most recent public polls placing her anywhere from 8 – 12 points ahead of her opponent. Bondi has received the support of Florida’s law enforcement, including 35 current and former Sheriffs, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Chiefs of Police, the Latino Officers Association and 13 current and former state attorneys. In addition, she has received tremendous support from job creators and consumer organizations, including the Florida Chamber, Florida Retail Federation, Florida Medical Association, National Federation of Independent Businesses, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida. The election for Florida’s next Attorney General is this upcoming Tuesday, November 2nd.
