Atwater for CFO: Publicity Stunts Won’t Help Florida’s Economy

October 29, 2010 Politics Comments Off

In her ongoing negative campaign of smears, distortions and publicity stunts, Loranne Ausley has been caught spreading untruths about Jeff Atwater, and his plan for our state, too many times.  Ausley’s most recent publicity stunt just continues this deceitful practice.

Ausley told reporters that her bike ride was meant to challenge Jeff Atwater to a debate because he had refused her invitations.  As has been reported, this is absolutely false.  It was Ausley who rejected an invitation from the Univision television network for October 21st, an invitation Atwater had accepted.  Ironically, Ausley declined the Univision debate even though she was only a few miles away having a big-money fundraiser at the luxurious Biltmore Hotel. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=117580744970458&index=1

Ausley also failed to attend candidate forums where both would have shared a stage. One of many examples was the October 14th candidate forum hosted by the Florida Farm Bureau.

Along the way, Ausley has continued to make charges about Jeff Atwater and a Tallahassee courthouse construction project. The St. Petersburg Times’ Politifact reporters and Jacksonville’s First Coast News have both ruled her claims on this issue to be patently false. * Even Ausley’s mentor and political benefactor Alex Sink produced an audit that acknowledged it was state bureaucrats who failed taxpayers. * After that, despite being called out for spending more than $1 million to spread the smears on television, she continues to make the false statements to anyone who will listen.

* http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/oct/12/122319/sinks-audit-raps-taj-mahal-courthouse/news-politics/

The bike ride has been described as a “low-cost stunt” by the Tallahassee Democrat, and yesterday, Ausley revealed the real reason for the stunt:  Asked if her plan was “to pick a fight” Ausley told a Leesburg reporter “Yeah it is.” The report says a “confrontation” is her goal.  http://www.dailycommercial.com/localnews/story/102810ausley

“Loranne Ausley is completely out of touch,” said Atwater spokesman Brian Hughes. “Almost 12 percent of our fellow Floridians are unemployed. Insurance rates are too high due to fraud. Bureaucrats create obstacles for entrepreneurs to start and grow a business in our state. Despite these and other serious issues, Ausley wants to ride a bicycle and lie to people. Publicity stunts don’t create jobs, reduce the burden of government waste, or help a family make ends meet.”

Hughes continued, “Florida’s future isn’t a game. The key to our success isn’t found in a politically motivated ‘fight’ or ‘confrontation.’  Instead, we need leadership and a plan. That is exactly what Jeff Atwater is offering the people of Florida. Today, like hundreds of days since he launched his campaign, Jeff Atwater is traveling across the state and listening to Floridians. He is sharing with them his vision for making a better tomorrow.  We are confident that they will reject Ausley’s silly games and join Jeff Atwater on Election Day.”

“We also expect the people of Palm Beach County will, as they always do, welcome this visitor with kindness and hospitality. When they do, we hope Ausley will answer their questions about her deceitful campaign, and why she opposes efforts to reduce property taxes and taxes on the savings and investments of seniors and retirees.”

Remember in November | Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate

October 28, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Our brother, Charlie Crist, continues to champion public education. Charlie understands that Florida’s teachers are the most important resource for our public schools.

Charlie believes that we need to support and reward teachers for their dedication. That’s why he vetoed Senate Bill 6; a flawed attempt at reform.

As Governor, instead of punishing Florida’s educators, Charlie proposed increases in school funding every year. He vetoed cuts to National Board. He fought for stimulus money and put it to work by saving 30,000 teaching jobs. He negotiated and promoted the Seminole Compact to strengthen our public school funding.

For Florida’s public education system to thrive, it is critical for us to have a U.S. Senator in Washington who is proud to support public school teachers and our dedication to learning.

We deeply appreciate your support from the start of Charlie’s campaign for U.S. Senate. Teachers like from all over Florida stood with Charlie, rooting us forward with cheers of “Got your back” and “Remember in November”. Your enthusiasm was inspirational.

Help us support Charlie to the U.S. Senate now, so he can continue to support us in Florida in the future.

Thank you for your dedication and service.

Charlie’s grateful sisters,

Margaret Wood and Catherine Kennedy

We Have the Momentum – Rubio’s Lead Shrinking | Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate

October 28, 2010 Politics Comments Off

The tide is turning.  This morning, early indications of a revival turned into a massive shift of momentum. The latest poll has revealed that Floridians are propelling Charlie Crist into a dead heat with Tea Party extremist Marco Rubio. We are witnessing an explosion of enthusiasm.

A new Quinnipiac poll points to an ever-narrowing gap of seven points between the Governor and Rubio. With clear goals for strengthening Florida’s economy and a persistent focus on putting the people’s interest first, Crist has slashed Rubio’s lead in half in just two weeks.

The people of Florida are increasingly realizing that Crist is the only honest alternative to Marco Rubio’s brand of Tea Party extremism, which 60 percent of Floridians  are rejecting.

Common-sense Democrats, Republicans, and independents are following the lead of former Democratic Florida House Speaker Peter Wallace who says that, “Floridians urgently need to unite behind the one candidate who can beat Marco Rubio and then deliver bipartisan solutions for Florida in our nation’s capital, and that’s Charlie Crist.”

According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, Congressman Meek’s supporters are abandoning his candidacy in droves, citing the loss of roughly a third of his support in two weeks. The newspaper explains that, “Voters apparently started to realize that sticking with Meek only enhances the conservative Rubio’s chances for victory.”

Stand with Charlie Crist and join our fight for common sense. Vote early and donate now.

Thank you,

Alex Sink For Governor: Q POLL — Sink 45% v. Scott 41%!

October 28, 2010 Politics Comments Off

This is it — the last day the campaign can accept contributions. Just this morning, Quinnipiac released a poll showing Alex up 45-41. We’ve got to keep this momentum going.

We’re more than halfway to our $50,000 Get Out the Vote goal for the final five days.

We still need to fund $12,000 worth of GOTV radio and a $5,000 program to drive everyone from seniors to college students to the polls. Will you contribute now to make sure we can put these plans into place? Go to:

Democratic Leaders Support Adam Putnam for Commissioner of Agriculture

October 28, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Putnam backed by current and former elected officials for Commissioner of Agriculture
I-4 East Bound, Fla. – Adding to his already overwhelming bi-partisan support, Adam Putnam received support from leaders in the Democratic Party, strengthening his bid for Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture.
“Adam Putnam reaches across party lines to ensure all Floridians have a voice at the table. Our state will be united under his leadership, and Floridians will finally see real solutions taking priority over politics,” said Gov. Wayne Mixson, 39th Governor of Florida.
“Serving as Commissioner of Agriculture takes a strong background in agriculture, dedication to consumer protection and a vision for Florida’s future. Adam Putnam has worked with members of both major political parties to ensure a prosperous future for agriculture and our great state. As a former Commissioner of Agriculture, I am honored to join with fellow Democrats in endorsing his candidacy,” said Bob Crawford, Commissioner of Agriculture 1991-2001.
“Throughout my career in the Florida House and U.S. House, I have dedicated myself to working with representatives from all political parties, because I believe the best solutions are developed together. I am honored to have the endorsement of these strong Florida leaders and Florida Democrats as we all work toward ensuring Florida remains the best state to call home,” Putnam said.
A lack of substance on the issues in Maddox’s campaign may be one of the reasons an overwhelming majority of newspapers, the Florida Law Enforcement community, every agriculture organization, firefighters and the business community have endorsed Putnam’s candidacy and vision for the future of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

RPOF Makes Public Records Request for Communication Between CFO Sink and Insurance Lobbyist Brian May

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Floridians need to know the communications between Sink and CFO Office with Insurance Lobbyist/Sink Campaign Advisor

TALLAHASSEE – On the heels of Alex Sink cheating during the debate, firing an insurance lobbyist campaign advisor to pawn off responsibility on someone else, and then getting caught lying about cheating on national news, the Republican Party of Florida filed a Public Records Request today for communications between insurance lobbyist Brian May and Alex Sink and current and former employees of the CFO office.

The request asks for “any and all communications including, but not limited to, private and public e-mails, texts, PIN, and written communications” during the 2010 calendar year between insurance lobbyist May and CFO Sink, as well as with lobbyist May and current and former employees of the office of the CFO. Numerous, if not many, former CFO employees are current Sink campaign staff and advisors – some in prominent positions like Mr. May.

Mr. May is currently registered to lobby the office of the CFO, according to the Legislature’s website.

“Floridians have been shocked to find out that the very campaign advisor spoon-feeding her lines during the debate is actually an insurance lobbyist, lobbying Sink’s very own office,” said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker. “There is clearly an undeniable web between May, Sink, CFO employees, and Sink campaign staff that requires significantly more inspection in the wake of the iCheat scandal. From the get-go, Alex Sink hasn’t been honest or shown integrity about the iCheat scandal. Considering we’ve now seen her cheat, throw a lobbyist-advisor under the bus to cover it up, and then lie about it on national television, Floridians are rightfully questioning her competence and honesty in the final week.”

The specific information requested from the letter is:

1. During the Calendar year 2010, any and all communications including but not limited to private and public e-mails, texts, PIN, information sent from Droid smartphones, and written communications between CFO Alex Sink and insurance lobbyist Brian E. May.

2. During the calendar year 2010, any and all communications including but not limited to private and public e-mails, texts, PIN, information sent from Droid smartphones, and written communications between any current or former employees of the Department of Financial Services under CFO Sink and insurance lobbyist Brian May, including, but not limited to, former CFO office employees currently on the Sink campaign. Numerous senior Sink campaign advisors are previous CFO office employees.

The full text of the letter that was delivered is below.

Re: Public Records Request

Dear Director Franz:

I am writing to request copies of the following documents and that those documents be produced for inspection pursuant to the Public Records Act, Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes, and Article I, Section 24, of Florida’s Constitution.

This request includes copies of every document related to the matter, regardless of the format in which the information is stored. This request includes information stored on any State of Florida computer.

If you refuse to provide this information, Chapter 119 requires you advise me in writing and indicate the applicable exemption to the Public Records Act. Also, please state with particularity the reasons for your decision, as required by Section 119.07(2)(a). If the exemption you are claiming only applies to a portion of the records, please delete that portion and provide photocopies of the remainder of the records, according to Section 119.07(2)(a).

I agree to pay the actual cost of duplication as defined in Section 119.07(1)(a).
I request that these records be produced as soon as possible, but in any case within two days of the date of this request. If you have any questions or need more information in order to expedite this request, please call me at 850-222-7920.  I can also be reached at this number when your office has prepared the copies of the requested documents.  Thank you for your consideration.

RPOF: What They’re Saying About Amendments 5 & 6

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

No: Amendments 5 & 6 benefit outside interests, not voters
Orlando Sentinel
By: Incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/opinion/os-ed-myword-haridopolus-102710-20101026,0,194204.story

In 2008, President Obama won 20 of Florida’s 40 Senate districts. Still, there are those who suggest that Florida’s districts are uncompetitive and gerrymandered.

Of course, everybody supports fair redistricting. But Amendments 5 and 6 are not the answer. These amendments would impose new rules on redistricting — rules written by liberal union bosses, trial lawyers, and special interests, many located outside Florida.

Just follow the money.

The amendments’ sponsor, Fair Districts, has raised $3 million from lawyers and labor unions, including $1 million from state and national teachers unions and $625,000 from the Service Employees International Union.

Fair Districts received $400,000 from America Votes, a union-backed coalition whose members include the AFL-CIO, Planned Parenthood and MoveOn.org. Its stated mission is “to advance progressive policies.” Fair Districts is also funded by EMILY’s List, an extremist group dedicated to the election of pro-abortion Democrats. It even accepted $25,000 in 2007 from the Florida affiliate of ACORN, the shady, left-wing organization suspected of nationwide voter-registration fraud.

These highly partisan, liberal groups did not invest millions for nothing. Their agenda is not disinterested civic reform, but a more liberal Congress and Legislature.

“Tell me what company you keep,” Cervantes wrote, “and I will tell you what you are.” From the company that Fair Districts keeps, we know that Amendments 5 and 6 are a power grab by liberal interest groups — plain and simple.

Fair Districts is not a grassroots movement of mainstream Florida citizens. In the last four weeks alone, Fair Districts raised nearly $2 million from four ultra-partisan Democratic mega-donors. Most of these funds came from Washington.

Amendments 5 and 6 are an attempt by Washington special interests to amend our constitution for their political gain. It’s no secret. One prominent, out-of-state supporter of the amendments boasted in news accounts that, if the amendments pass, Democrats would gain up to five seats in Congress. Florida voters — not Washington special interests —should make these decisions.

To date, Fair Districts has spent $5.8 million to convince voters that Florida’s redistricting process is broken. They claim that Republicans owe their legislative majority to gerrymandered districts, but plain facts prove otherwise:

First, Republicans gained their majority under a map drawn by Democrats.

Second, the number of Republicans in the Legislature today, under Republican-drawn districts, is exactly the same as one decade ago, under Democratic-drawn districts.

Third, while Republicans hold 63 percent of seats drawn by the Legislature, they fare even better where redistricting is not a factor, winning 73 percent of statewide elections in the last decade.

The Legislature takes redistricting very seriously. Florida will conduct an open and responsible redistricting process, with or without the partisan rules proposed by trial lawyers and union bosses. Floridians should vote “no” on Amendments 5 and 6.

Mike Haridopolos is the incoming Florida Senate President.

The left’s ploy to kill the conservative comeback
Northwest Florida Daily News
By Rep. Matt Gaetz

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/opinion/left-34297-conservative-rep.html

The air is cooler, the humidity is lower and political TV ads are virtually staked on top of one another. That’s right: It’s campaign season, and excitement is in the air among conservative voters this year.

Republicans are poised to have the most significant revival in a generation. Congress is likely to switch. If the election were held today, Florida would elect Republicans to the U.S. Senate, the governorship and every cabinet position.

So, is there any reason for conservatives to worry? Absolutely.

Floridians have become all too willing to amend our state constitution at a whim. This election cycle is no exception. In fact, Amendments 5 and 6 pose a greater risk to the conservative cause than any liberal currently running for office.

If passed, Amendments 5 and 6 would essentially toss the redistricting process to the Florida Supreme Court to draw legislative and congressional district lines. Keep in mind that this same court sided with President Obama and denied Floridians the right to reject federal health care reform by removing Amendment 9 from the ballot. Not very unbiased, in my book.

The standards set forth in Amendments 5 and 6 are blatantly inconsistent. According to the proposals, no district lines could be drawn that would favor any incumbent. Likewise, no lines could be drawn that would disfavor any incumbent. Thus, there would always be a basis for endless litigation of the redistricting process, which would cost taxpayers millions of dollars in a tough economy.

This is the strategy of the left: Try to win in courtrooms what cannot be won in the ballot box. Besides, in 1994, Republicans won majorities in districts drawn by Democrats.

It is no surprise that Amendments 5 and 6 have been funded almost exclusively by left-leaning interest groups. ACORN, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Service Employees International Union and George Soros have been major supporters. Only 8 percent of the contributions to Amendments 5 and 6 have been under $500.

If the special interests are successful — if Amendments 5 and 6 pass — Florida will be a very different place to live and do business. Democrats could sue their way into a majority in the Florida Legislature. State income taxes, increased business regulations and limitations on the free market would all be back on the table. Our state would move quickly in the wrong direction. A weakened conservative minority could offer only token resistance.

We all get it. This election is critically important to the future of our nation and our state. Vote no on Amendments 5 and 6 and keep the conservative comeback alive in Florida.

Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate Campaign Releases Television Ad Outlining Clear Choice in Tuesday’s Election

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

ST. PETERSBURG – Governor Charlie Crist’s independent campaign for the U.S. Senate today released a new television ad outlining the clear choice before Florida voters in Tuesday’s election for the U.S. Senate. The 30-second ad, “Crossroads,” contrasts Marco Rubio’s extreme Tea Party agenda with the mainstream, common-sense leadership of Governor Crist.

SCRIPT – “Crossroads.”

CRIST: On Tuesday you’re going to choose a path for our state and nation.

Down one road is extremism, where Roe vs. Wade is overturned and being a moderate is a curse.

That’s the road Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, and Marco Rubio want to take us down.

It’s a dangerous road, and the polls say I’m the only one who can stop them.

So if you’re sick of the extremism and the gridlock, then join our fight for common sense.

I’m Charlie Crist and I approve this message.

And don’t forget to find me on line nine on your ballot.

Wallace Joins Common-Sense Democrats, Independents, and Republicans Across Florida Uniting to Defeat Tea Party Extremist Marco Rubio

ST. PETERSBURG – Former Democratic Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Peter R. Wallace today endorsed Governor Charlie Crist for United States Senate. Wallace joins the growing coalition of common-sense Democrats, independents, and Republicans uniting to defeat Tea Party extremist Marco Rubio and send Governor Crist to the United States Senate.

“I know Charlie Crist to be an honest, independent leader who will work with both parties to create jobs, improve our schools, and tackle our fiscal challenges,” said Wallace. “Floridians urgently need to unite behind the one candidate who can beat Marco Rubio and then deliver bipartisan solutions for
Florida in our nation’s capital, and that’s Charlie Crist.”

“Speaker Wallace is a leader of the highest integrity, and I am honored to have his support,” said Governor Crist. “Sixty percent of Floridians are rejecting the radical anti-woman, anti-senior, and anti-teacher agenda of Marco Rubio, and we must unite to ensure we have honest, independent representation in the United States Senate. That will be my sole focus through November 2nd as we seek to rally common-sense Floridians to our cause.”

Peter Wallace is a St. Petersburg native and alumnus of St. Petersburg High School, a 1976 graduate of Harvard College and a 1979 graduate of Harvard Law School.

Upon graduating from law school Peter clerked for Judge Paul H. Roney on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and then joined a St. Petersburg law firm. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from a district in St. Petersburg in 1982 and served until 1996. During his final two years in office he was Speaker of the House, the only person from Pinellas County ever to serve in that post. In 1998, he ran statewide for the cabinet post of Commissioner of Education.

Peter practices law with the St. Petersburg firm of Skelton, Willis, Bennett & Wallace, LLP.  His wife, Helen Pruitt Wallace, is a professor of creative writing at Eckerd College.

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

TAMPA, Fla. — Today, the Bondi for Attorney General Campaign released a new TV commercial titled, “We Remember,” featuring leading adoption lawyer and advocate Charlotte Danciu. The ad went on the air this morning.

In their Bay News 9 and Channel 13 debate last week, Pam Bondi called on Attorney General candidate Dan Gelber to apologize for his vote on the Scarlet Letter law that would have forced women placing their child up for adoption, including victims of rape or incest, to publish their sexual histories in newspapers.

Gelber defended himself, calling it a “cheap shot.” The ad closes as a female voice asks: “Cheap? How do you think we felt?”

The new spot can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-Y94mEQyn8.

Congressional Candidate Troy Stanley (FL-04) Joins Speakers for Tea Party Rally

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

(Jacksonville, FL – October 27, 2010) Congressional Challenger, Troy D. Stanley, has joined the list of speakers for the upcoming rally, sponsored by the Florida Tea Party Network. The rally is this Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Spencer’s Farm 648 County Road 217, Middleburg, Florida. The rally will kickoff at 12:00pm following the arrival of tea party supporters who will be traveling by motorcade from areas across north and central Florida

The headline speakers include popular conservative radio host Herman Cain, Republican Party of Florida Chairman and State Senate Candidate John Thrasher and GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Rick Scott. Stanley’s presence on on the speaker’s list serves to dispel allegations that the tea party as a movement has been co-opted by the Republican Party. Stanley, an independent candidate, is challenging incumbent Republican congressman Ander Crenshaw in the November 2nd General Election.

Pam Bondi – For Educational Opportunity and Parental Empowerment

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

TAMPA, Fla. — Today marks the ninth and final week of “Nine Weeks, Nine Distinct Differences,” a weekly comparison highlighting the differences between Pam Bondi, Republican nominee for Attorney General, and her Democratic opponent. This week contrasts Bondi’s support of parental empowerment and educational opportunities for low-income and disabled children with her opponent’s vocal opposition to giving educational choice to these children and families.

“I come from a long line of public school educators, including both of my parents and my sister, and I care deeply about the direction in which our education system is going,” said Bondi. “Keeping our kids in school and giving them the best education possible will not only create an educated workforce, bringing and keeping businesses and jobs in our state, but most importantly is an essential component of keeping our children out of gangs, off drugs and away from other crimes.”

In addition to Florida’s great public schools, public school choice programs, and virtual, magnet and charter schools, Florida has two of the largest school choice programs in the nation: The McKay Scholarship Program (MSP) that serves over 20,000 disabled children a year, and the Corporate Income Tax Credit Scholarship Program (CITCS) that serves nearly 30,000 of the state’s poorest children, 75 percent of whom are minority. Both programs receive wide bipartisan support, as shown in the most recent legislative session where a majority of the Legislative Black Caucus and all but one member of the Hispanic Caucus voted in support of the CITCS. The Florida Legislature’s Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA) released a report in 2009 stating that the CITCS program saves the taxpayers $39 million per year.

“I strongly believe that while providing adequate funding of our public schools is essential, money is only part of the solution to improving our educational system. In order to ensure our children are getting the best education possible, we must provide choice and innovation in education and get away from the notion that the best school is the one assigned by zip code, rather than the best fit for the child,” said Bondi.

In direct contrast, Bondi’s opponent has been a consistent opponent of scholarships for the disabled, low-income and minority children served by the MSP and the CITCS programs, and has publically stated that he would fight against the scholarship programs if given the opportunity. He voted against the McKay Scholarship Program for special needs children in 2001 when the Legislature made it easier for children to qualify for participation and allowed more children to participate, and has been one of the most vocal opponents in the legislature of the Tax Credit Scholarship Program for poor and underprivileged children since its inception in 2001.

Bondi and her opponent differ greatly on many policy issues including her commitment to defend Floridians constitutional rights against the federal health care law, and his commitment to drop the lawsuit challenging the law; her commitment to supporting less taxes and more job incentives and his record of voting against both; her commitment to opposing a blanket restoration of felons voting rights and his commitment to returning felons to the “mainstream public”; and her career history as a nearly two-decade prosecutor and first time politician and his career history as a onetime prosecutor turned criminal defense attorney and long time politician.

Charlie Crist For U.S. Senate: Governor Crist Wins NBC Debate by Focusing on Independence and Commitment to Protecting Social Security

October 27, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Crist campaign spokesman Danny Kanner today issued the following statement regarding Governor Crist’s debate victory:

“In tonight’s final debate among Florida’s U.S. Senate candidates, Governor Charlie Crist earned a clear victory by focusing on his independence from radical ideology and party bosses, and his 100 percent commitment to protecting and preserving Social Security as we know it. Once again, Marco Rubio stood up for his support for raising the retirement age and cutting Social Security benefits. That is but one of Marco Rubio’s extreme Tea Party positions out of the mainstream of Florida values.

“Repeatedly throughout this campaign, Tea Party extremist Marco Rubio has advocated positions that would punish Florida’s seniors, women, and teachers by overturning Roe v. Wade, dismantling Social Security as we know it, and banning funding for potentially life-saving stem cell research. Florida deserves better. Only Charlie Crist can defeat Marco Rubio in November and then deliver bipartisan solutions to Florida’s economic challenges in Washington. That’s why over the next seven days, the Governor will be focused on uniting the 60 percent of Floridians who are rejecting Marco Rubio’s radical agenda around his independent campaign.”

RPOF: Time For Alex Sink to Apologize for Willingly Cheating in CNN Debate

October 26, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Sink Once Again Refuses to Accept Responsibility for Actions; Now Actually Denying She Cheated

TALLAHASSEE – In a brazen attempt to deny basic facts and pawn responsibility off on others, Alex Sink has yet to apologize for cheating in yesterday’s debate, has yet to accept responsibility for her actions, and is actually now denying that she cheated – although video clearly shows otherwise. This is just the latest in an unmistakable trend of Obama liberal Sink refusing to own up to and accept responsibility for her own actions.

Concerned that Alex Sink can’t answer questions on her own, her campaign staffers illegally spoon-fed a line to her in yesterday’s debate. Yet, as the CNN video clearly shows, Sink had the opportunity not to cheat, yet still decided to look at the handheld device with notes. The debate moderator wrote afterwards that “Alex Sink cheated during the debate.” Strikingly, in response to a question about this today, a Sink campaign spokesman said, “That is not cheating. That’s taking action when somebody on your staff breaks a rule or makes a mistake.”

“It’s time for Alex Sink to apologize for willingly cheating and now refusing to accept responsibility for it,” said Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker. “Sink has had scandal after scandal where she refuses to accept responsibility and claims ignorance, like after losing billions at the SBA and allowing criminals to sell insurance. Floridians were disturbed to see an unvarnished snapshot into how Sink-world works, illegally being spoon-fed notes by staff since neither have confidence in her ability to answer questions. How is Alex Sink prepared to be governor if she can’t answer the questions, won’t accept responsibility for her actions, and even refuses to admit the actions she clearly took.”

It’s time to reclaim America. It’s time to stand with Marco today.

Proud to stand,

Bondi: Oil In The Gulf Is Far From Gone, Forgotten

October 26, 2010 Politics Comments Off

TAMPA, Fla. — Pam Bondi, Republican nominee for Attorney General, today issued the following statement after the Louisiana Times-Picayune reported this weekend that strings of weathered oil have surfaced and are floating in the Gulf of Mexico, just days after the Coast Guard admiral in charge of the oil spill cleanup process declared there was little oil left in the Gulf to be recovered:
“Regardless of the federal government’s efforts to downplay the ongoing existence of oil in the Gulf of Mexico, the oil from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is still very much present and still a threat to our states, our economies, our beaches and our businesses.

“Even six months after the spill, it is still too early to determine what the total effect of this disaster will be for every Floridian and small business impacted. I urge Ken Feinberg, the administrator of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility, to extend his cutoff date for emergency payments indefinitely, because we are still assessing the damages and may not know the full extent of the costs for years to come.

“Florida’s leaders should continue applying pressure on BP and Mr. Feinberg to do everything possible to make those affected by this disaster whole, including individuals, businesses, and government entities. An efficient and effective claims process is essential, and I believe we should take every action possible to continue fighting for our state and its citizens and businesses.”

Pam Bondi Endorsed By Florida Optometric Association

October 26, 2010 Politics Comments Off

TAMPA, Fla. — Pam Bondi, Republican nominee for Florida Attorney General, today accepted the endorsement of the Florida Optometric Association. The association commended Bondi’s commitment to make Florida a safer place and to encourage small businesses to locate and grow in the state.

The Florida Optometric Association is focused on advancing and promoting the quality, availability and accessibility of primary eye care and related health care of Florida’s citizens. The Association also represents the profession of optometry and seeks to enhance and promote the independent and ethical decision-making of its members and to assist and enable optometric physicians to practice their profession so as to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

“As Attorney General, my top priority will be the safety, jobs and constitutional rights of Floridians, and I am proud to have the support of the Florida Optometric Association,” said Bondi. “I will be ready on day one to continue to stand up for our state’s doctors who are deeply concerned about the availability of a quality health care for Florida’s patients.”

Bondi is a career prosecutor and fiscal conservative who believes in less government and lower taxes and has spent the past 18 years prosecuting all types of criminal activity, including domestic violence, drug trafficking, theft, gang-related crimes and murder.

RPOF: Rick Scott Clear Winner in Final Gubernatorial Debate

October 26, 2010 Politics Comments Off

RPOF: “The fact is that Alex Sink as governor would mean higher taxes, higher spending, and higher unemployment for Floridians – sounds awfully like President Obama.”

TALLAHASSEE – RPOF Communications Director Dan Conston issued the following statement following Rick Scott’s clear victory in tonight’s gubernatorial debate:

“Rick Scott was the only one with a clear plan tonight for creating jobs, getting Florida’s economy back on track, and reducing our near 12% unemployment. Meanwhile, Obama liberal Alex Sink refused to promise that she wouldn’t raise taxes and wouldn’t answer questions about her high-spending proposals and failed record as a ‘fiscal watchdog.’ The fact is that Alex Sink as governor would mean higher taxes, higher spending, and higher unemployment for Floridians – sounds awfully like President Obama.”
