Alex Sink for Governor: Fox News Poll

September 15, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Fox News released a poll yesterday showing me ahead of Rick Scott 49-41 percent.

You heard me right — it’s a Fox News poll. That’s the good news.

The bad news is the attack ads are well underway. Rick Scott, the Republican Governors Association, and Republican Party of Florida, are all running misleading TV ads attacking me.

They know my plans to grow our economy and improve our schools are resonating with voters. And they have decided that the only way they can make Rick Scott Governor is to malign me.

We have come too far and worked too hard to let their attack machine prevail. We are in this fight together and I need your help now more than ever.

Please contribute $10 or whatever you can today at:

http://www.alexsink2010.com/fightback

This Fox News poll is the third major poll this month that has me leading, and they all show the same thing. Independent voters support my campaign because they’re sick of Scott’s partisan attacks — they’re ready for a leader focused on Florida’s challenges who will lead with integrity.

I know we’ve asked a lot of you lately, which is why I’m so grateful for your support thus far. And time after time, you’ve come through.

Today I need you to dig down deep to make sure we have the resources to respond to those nasty attacks that are only meant to blunt our momentum.

Anything you can do to help out today is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alex Sink

Rick Scott for Governor: RPOF Stateman’s Dinner Remarks

September 10, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Tonight I have the opportunity to address the outstanding leaders of our party at the RPOF Statesman’s Dinner. In case you are unable to attend, I want to share with you my prepared remarks on his momentous occasion. I am grateful for this opportunity to share my vision for Florida.

Sincerely,

Rick Scott
Prepared Remarks for the Statesman’s Dinner

Thank you for the warm reception! First I would like to introduce my wife, Ann, my daughter, Allison and her husband Pierre.

I also want to take a moment to introduce you to someone many of you already know – my running mate, State Representative Jennifer Carroll and her husband, Nolan.

Jennifer is smart, disciplined and willing to work hard, just as I will, to turn our state around.

It is a pleasure to be here tonight with the people who make the Florida Republican Party strong and successful. … Continue Reading

Kendrick Meek for U.S. Senate: Big News

September 7, 2010 Politics, Video Comments Off

I have big news. Today, we’re kicking this race into high gear and launching a brand new TV ad.

None of the pundits thought we would be on the air this early in the general election, but your tireless grassroots energy is proving them wrong. I am so grateful to have you in my corner.

In Florida, running ads is a critical component of any winning campaign. Today, you helped us prove we can go toe-to-toe with the endless supply of special interest cash powering the campaigns of Marco Rubio and Charlie Crist.

Our media strategy will only go as far as you take it. We’re only on the air because of your support. We need your continued commitment to stay there. We need 150 donors ASAP to keep this ad running. I need your contribution right away.

Click here to watch our new TV ad. You made it possible, and a contribution from you right now can keep it on the air.

The message of this ad is simple. I’m the only candidate who was against offshore oil drilling before and after the spill and who has always been against gambling one penny of your Social Security in the stock market.

Thanks to you, voters across this state are seeing this message for the first time and learning there’s only one Senate candidate who shares their values. We’re delivering a powerful message, and I owe that to you.

I know that as long as I can count on your unyielding support, we can win. Today is another huge step towards that goal.

Thanks again,

Kendrick

Alex Sink for Governor: What’s the difference?

September 7, 2010 Politics, Video Comments Off

It didn’t take long for Rick Scott to try to drag this campaign into the mud. It’s how he won the Republican Primary, and it’s how he thinks he can win the General.

Instead of focusing on the issues facing Florida, he’s spending all of his time talking about President Obama. It’s an attempt to hide from questions about his own record.

I’ve had enough of his brand of campaigning. And I’m calling him out on it in my new TV ad. We need a Governor who attacks Florida’s challenges, not one who bases his campaign on petty attacks. We’ve set a goal of raising $55,000 this week from grassroots supporters like you to make sure voters see the ad.

Click here to watch the ad and contribute to keep it on TV.

There are only eight weeks left in this campaign. The differences between my campaign and Rick Scott’s are becoming clearer every day.

But with supporters like you, I know that Floridians will hear the truth. And together we’ll get Florida back on the right track.

Thank you,

Alex Sink

Rick Scott for Governor: 60 Days till Victory

September 3, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Today marks 60 days until the Obamacrats are defeated and my running mate, Rep. Jennifer Carroll, and I get to work turning Florida’s economy around.

We have a fight ahead of us exposing the failures and the business incompetence of my opponent, and we need you to support our campaign.

Jennifer and I are committed to traveling the state and spreading our 7-7-7 economic plan to create 700,000 jobs in 7 years by following 7 common sense steps. Our campaign has a strategy that I know will propel our GOP ticket to victory over the Obamacrats, but we need your support. … Continue Reading

Alan Grayson for Congress: The Man Who Would Be King

September 3, 2010 Politics Comments Off

I was elected to Congress because 171,000 people chose me to represent them. But suppose that only one person got to choose all the Members of the House and the Senate. And the President, too.

That man would be a king.

So meet David Koch, the man who would be king. King of America. The one who is spending $250,000 on attack ads this week, to defeat me. The one who wants to choose all of our so-called “elected representatives.” … Continue Reading

Alex Sink for Governor: Lies and Distortions

September 3, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Today Bud Chiles announced his support of Alex’s campaign for Governor. He shares Alex’s vision for a better Florida. He also believes that she is the only candidate in this race with a detailed plan for Florida’s education system and the best plan for Florida’s economic future.

Alex understands that to rebuild our economy Florida must have strong public schools. Bud Chiles and independent voters agree and are moving to support Alex.

The positive response to our campaign already has Rick Scott on the attack.  The Republican Party has purchased millions of dollars in TV ads filled with lies and distortions.  This is only the beginning of the onslaught of attacks we expect. … Continue Reading

Bud Chiles Calls for “Stand by Your Ad” Law; Reveals “Florida’s Most Generous Political Address

August 26, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Millions legally “laundered” through small Tampa office

TAMPA – A small office on a quiet street in Tampa funnels millions of dollars into Florida’s political action committees (PACs), committees of continuous existence (CCEs) and so-called 527 electioneering communications organizations.  According to Bud Chiles, it also serves as a bricks-and-mortar testament to the shady nature of political giving in the Sunshine State.  State elections records show that 63 active and inactive political organizations are connected to Tampa’s 610 South Boulevard, either directly or through an accountant with that address.  The active groups have received contributions of over $21.7 million that can be pumped into Florida campaigns – in some cases without having to reveal where the money came from.

“Special interests have Florida’s government in a headlock.  Our campaign finance rules have essentially legalized money laundering,” according to Chiles, an independent candidate for governor.  “I’m a strong believer in free speech, but I also believe Floridians have a right to know who is speaking.” … Continue Reading

Rick Scott for Governor: Setting the Record Straight

August 24, 2010 Politics Comments Off

We would like the opportunity to address the email you received from Chairman Thrasher yesterday. We realize the Chairman has been a longtime ally of Bill McCollum’s and he has chosen to no longer be neutral in this race, but the facts are facts and should be made available to every Florida Republican.

First, Florida’s newspapers, most notably the St. Petersburg Times, have noted Bill McCollum’s reticence to investigate Jim Greer and his defense of Greer’s action to keep party records secret is not a matter of factual dispute.

Chairman Thrasher is understandably trying to put the Greer saga behind the state party and move forward – but denying facts to paint a better picture of Bill McCollum is the wrong way to do it. … Continue Reading

Alan Grayson for Congress: VIDEO: What Does Tomorrow Mean?

August 23, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Today is the final day of our moneybomb, at www.CongressmanWithGuts.com. Tomorrow, the attacks from the Republicans begin, because tomorrow is when the Republicans choose their candidate to run against us.

It’s a good time to reflect. I have five young children, and they range in age from 5 to 15. A while back, my youngest asked me, ‘what does tomorrow mean?’ I’ve always found that question hard to answer. I think that if a five year old could understand this, I’d explain that tomorrow means the place where our hopes live. It’s the place where we imagine a better world, and try to make it happen. … Continue Reading

Thomas Chalifoux for State House of Representatives: Thomas Chalifoux Sues Horner’s 527 for Libel

August 23, 2010 Politics Comments Off

(Kissimmee, FL) — Thomas Chalifoux, candidate for State House District 79, has filed a lawsuit in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court Osceola County alleging libel because incumbent Mike Horner has used a 527 shadow group for intentional defamation of character. The Mike Horner Campaign and Truth Matters, Inc. funded by special interests have sent out a mailer accusing Chalifoux of defaulting on a $200,000 mortgage and being foreclosed upon.

One problem: the story simply is not true. The records show that Chalifoux held a lien on the property and was only notified as an interested party. Chalifoux was neither the owner nor the debtor. In the lawsuit Chalifoux is asking for compensatory damages for the libel and defamation. He is looking forward to the opportunity to depose Mr. Horner. … Continue Reading

Jeff Greene for U.S. Senate: A Clear Choice

August 23, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Date: August 21, 2010
To: Interested Parties
From: Luis Vizcaino, Communications Director, Jeff Greene Campaign
Re: A Clear Choice

In the final days before the primary election, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Jeff Greene will present the clear choice between a failed, corrupt, career politician who has not been able to pass a single bill in his eight years in Congress and an outsider, successful businessman who has created jobs and won’t take a penny from special interests. Voters will see the stark, clear differences when they cast their ballots on Tuesday.

This election is about the people of Florida and which candidate is best prepared to solve the serious challenges middle-class families face. Kendrick Meek believes that he is entitled to the Senate seat, but he is very much mistaken. This is not something that he can inherit – the Senate seat is the people’s seat. He may have gotten a free ride his whole life, but not this time. Voters this election have the final say, and Jeff Greene will be there to give them the option to vote for an outsider who will put them first.

Jeff Greene is smart, tough and as he has demonstrated, he is not afraid of a fight. He will fight for the people of Florida as he has fought for himself throughout his life. He is a real Democrat that will not be afraid to “ruffle some feathers.”

Kendrick Meek is a go-along to get-along, pay-for-play career politician who failed to protect Floridians from the subprime lenders and Wall Street banks which caused hundreds of thousands of Floridians to lose their jobs and livelihoods. Too much is at stake in this election and Kendrick Meek has not demonstrated that he is ready to be the United States Senator representing Florida.

Kendrick Meek is running on endorsements, but Jeff Greene is running on accomplishments. The people of Florida will vote for a leader with the smarts to see a problem coming and take action to prevent it from spiraling out of control. Jeff Greene is that candidate.

On Tuesday, Florida will go Greene.
