Allen Boyd for Congress: Dad Needs Your Help

June 17, 2010 Politics Comments Off

I remember the first time my dad ran for Congress.  I was a lot younger back then, but I was still able to recognize his deep commitment to improving the quality of life for all families in North Florida.  He’s always had a great ability to connect with people, listen to their problems and take action to get things done.  Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how hard he’s worked for families in North Florida, and now he needs your support. … Continue Reading

Troy D. Stanley for Congress: Congressional Candidate Troy D. Stanley First to Sign Civility Pledge

June 16, 2010 Politics Comments Off

(Jacksonville, FL – June 16, 2010) Troy Stanley, independent candidate for Florida’s Fourth Congressional District is the first Florida candidate to answer the call for a more civil public discourse from Civility Project founders Mark DeMoss and Lanny Davis. He has encouraged his opponent, five term incumbent Republican Representative Ander Crenshaw to do likewise.

Civility Project Co-Founders DeMoss and Davis, who are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, have sent the pledge to all of the sitting Governors, US Senators and US Representatives. The pledge is concise: “I will be civil in my public discourse and behavior. I will be respectful of others whether or not I agree with them. I will stand against incivility when I see it. I commit to do my best to honor the civility pledge and encourage any candidate who runs against me to do the same.” … Continue Reading

Allen Boyd for Congress: Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

May 31, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Today is an important day to remember the brave men and women of the armed forces who have died in service to our great nation. These fallen heroes made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the country we love so dearly, and on this Memorial Day, I know we are all very thankful for their service.

In Vietnam, I had the pleasure of serving with many courageous heroes we remember on this day. I know how tough it can be to lose someone close to you. Today, my thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost a loved one serving our country. Your brothers and sisters, sons, daughters, grandchildren and friends will always be remembered. … Continue Reading

On this special day, I ask you to join me in remembering the brave men and women who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice. It is because of the heroism of these brave patriots that we enjoy our freedom today. We owe them all an enormous debt of gratitude.

Today, I had the opportunity to join the brave men and women of VFW Post 3308 in a very special memorial service for our fallen heroes. It was truly a heartwarming event and a reminder of what makes America the greatest nation in the world. … Continue Reading

Al Lawson for Congress: Voters Want Change in Washington!

May 19, 2010 Politics Comments Off

The past few weeks have been eventful across the country. Voters from all political stripes and both parties are sending a strong message to Washington. Congress has failed, and we need a change in leadership. And for the past few months, I’ve been hearing that same message in North Florida.

Two weeks ago, Utah Republicans met to decide their candidate for the United States Senate and ousted three-term Senator Bob Bennett. Then the following week, Democratic voters in West Virginia went to the polls and voted out 14-term Congressman Alan Mollohan. And last night, the political establishment in Washington was dealt great defeats. In Kentucky, the GOP leadership’s hand-picked candidate was soundly defeated for the U.S. Senate by a political outsider. And in Pennsylvania, establishment candidate Senator Arlen Specter was crushed in the Democratic primary by Congressman Joe Sestak. … Continue Reading

Allen Boyd for Congress: Watch Our New Ad and Help Allen Finish the Job

May 17, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Our campaign just released a new TV ad titled “Finish the Job” and I wanted you to be one of the first to see it. The ad is featured on our website BoydOnOurSide.com and highlights the work Allen is doing to bring jobs to North Florida.

There have been encouraging signs of economic progress in recent weeks, especially the announcement earlier this month that our economy added nearly 300,000 jobs in April, representing the largest single monthly growth in more than four years. While this is very good news, Allen knows that many families are still struggling, and he is doing everything he can to create and save jobs right here in North Florida.

That’s why Allen wrote the bill that would save hundreds of jobs in our oyster industry, and created new jobs by delivering new veterans clinics in Tallahassee and Marianna. He also helped pass new tax incentives to help small businesses and encourage hiring. … Continue Reading

To all the Moms out there – Happy Mother’s Day!

On behalf of our family, I would like to extend to all Moms a warm and wonderful Mother’s Day.

Too often we take for granted the roles mothers play in our lives. We should all take a moment and reflect where we would all be if not for our mothers’ love, patience, and sacrifice. … Continue Reading

Allen Boyd for Congress: Happy Mother’s Day

May 9, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Today is a very special day to show appreciation for the mothers in our lives and thank them for their love, care and generosity. While their hard work and dedication should be appreciated every single day, Mother’s Day serves as an important reminder to show them how much they mean to us.

Although my mother Elizabeth has passed away, she continues to have a profound influence on my life and the work I do serving the people of North Florida. When she was fifty, my mom would get in her old Ford Falcon and drive ninety miles each day to Florida State University, just so she could earn her degree. She became a teacher and used the money she earned to send her three kids to college. I will never forget the sacrifices my mom made to give us a better life and I cannot thank her enough. … Continue Reading

“I am happy to announce today, that come November the good people of Florida’s 4th district will get to choose who will represent them in Washington. They may choose to send a career politician back to Washington for a 6th term, or they can choose a first time candidate, a 20-year Navy Veteran and a small business owner. They can choose a statesman. My name is Troy Stanley and I am that Statesman. … Continue Reading

Al Lawson for Congress: Sign our Petition – Send our Blue Dog to Obedience School

Al Lawson for Congress: Sign our Petition – Send our Blue Dog to Obedience School

This week, the United States Congress will be casting one of the most important votes in our nation’s history. Members of the House of Representatives are expected on Thursday to decide whether to reform our broken health care system. I cannot stress enough how important this vote is for the future of our country. And now I need you to help me make that same point to our Congressman.

Last November, Blue Dog Congressman Allen Boyd voted against the landmark Health Care Reform bill passed by the United States House of Representatives. Like many of you, I was shocked. Not only was Blue Dog Boyd on the wrong side of history, but he was on the wrong side of the 126,000 of his constituents who lack basic access to health care. Blue Dog Boyd voted against his district’s interests by voting NO on Health Care Reform. We cannot allow this to happen again!

Send a Blue Dog to Obedience School – www.BlueDogSchool.com

It is time that our Blue Dog learns to obey; let’s send him to obedience school. Visit BlueDogSchool.com and sign our petition telling Blue Dog Congressman Allen Boyd that we expect him to support Health Care Reform.

For too long, the special interests that dominate Washington politics have paralyzed our Congress and prevented our nation from realizing real progress. Whether the economy, health care or job creation, too many members of Congress have forgotten who it is they really work for – they work for the people. The people are the boss, and it is time that our Congressmen start listening.

Tell our Blue Dog to obey – www.BlueDogSchool.com

The nation needs comprehensive Health Care Reform, and we cannot sit back and allow a Congressman who is bankrolled by insurance companies and the health care industry to derail this important legislation. Sign our petition today and remember … the Congress works for us – the people. Let’s make them listen!

Together, we can make a difference. Send a message to Congress and send a Blue Dog to Obedience School. Sign our petition today!

Sincerely,

Al

P.S. – After you have signed our petition, please forward this email using the link below to at least five of your friends that believe in reforming our health care system. Let’s take back our Congress for the people!
