Rick Scott for Governor: Tomorrow: Last Day to Register to Vote for Rick

July 25, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Hopefully you have been reading about our state-wide bus tour — Rick has been out on the trail meeting voters and spreading his message of economic development, immigration reform, and ability to bring a fresh perspective to Tallahassee.

But to make this happen, the first step will be to win to Republican primary and to do this, we need your help. … Continue Reading

Alex Sink for Governor: Breaking the glass ceiling

July 24, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Thirty years ago, when I started working my way up in the business world, women executives were few and far between. It wasn’t easy breaking the glass ceiling, but I wasn’t about to let that hold me back.

This race isn’t just about electing a businesswoman or PTA mom, it’s about building a stronger future for Florida. The future makes me think about my children, especially my daughter Lexi. I want her to know what a difference strong women can make. … Continue Reading

Rick Scott For Governor: My 7-7-7 Plan

July 21, 2010 Politics Comments Off

My goal as your next Governor is to make Florida the job creation model for the nation. That is why today I am unveiling my 7-7-7 plan to turn Florida around.

To achieve this level of excellence will require a leader in the executive office that has the right experience to know what it takes to attract and keep good private sector jobs. It also requires a conservative outsider who will care more about your job security than a career politician who only looks out for his own.

Today, I ask that you take a minute to read my 7-7-7 plan that outlines 7 commonsense steps that will create 700,000 jobs in 7 years.

This plan takes leadership and the courage to make tough choices. I’ve done it in business, and I can do it in Tallahassee. Read how together we can turn Florida around.

Let’s get to work,

Rick Scott

Rick Scott for Governor: To the Grassroots

July 9, 2010 Politics Comments Off

First of all, thank you for all the support and advice each of you have offered to me thus far in this campaign, I have benefited greatly from it.

I wanted to write to you today to directly address the increased level of attacks being launched against me from a few in Tallahassee.

As you are probably aware, the most recent negative ads against me were paid for with funds raised by a few of the legislative leaders in Tallahassee who are of course supporting Bill McCollum. And just yesterday the new Party Chairman sent out a press release attacking me. The insiders in Tallahassee are bound to be upset over my calls for transparency and I anticipate being attacked. That is what happens when you are not afraid to upset the apple cart. … Continue Reading

Alex Sink for Governor: July 4th photos

July 4, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love the fireworks, the parades, and the great time we all have celebrating what this country means to us while thanking our brave troops whose sacrifices keep us free.

But this 4th is one I’m going to remember for a long time. Bill and I are spending it along our beautiful Gulf Coast — with Floridians in Panama City, Lynn Haven, Cedar Key, and elsewhere — who, in spite of recent hardship, are proudly celebrating the birth of our country. … Continue Reading

Despite all of the challenges our state and nation faces, there is no greater collection of can-do patriots than right here in Florida. … Continue Reading

Bill McCollum for Governor: Independence Day

July 2, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Friends,

Every year, the celebration of Independence Day is a time to reflect on the freedom and individual liberties secured for us by our Founding Fathers. Thanks to their courage and enduring spirit, we are blessed to live in the most free and prosperous nation in the history of the world.

As we commemorate July 4th here at home, please remember those who are defending our freedom overseas. Most importantly, keep the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in your thoughts and prayers. … Continue Reading

Rick Scott for Governor: Stand With Me

July 2, 2010 Politics Comments Off

President Obama stood in front of the nation yesterday and delivered a speech that demonstrated how completely out of touch he is with the illegal immigration crisis in this country. More importantly, he made no promise to provide resources necessary to secure our borders and protect our national security.

It is clearly time for the states to take matters into their own hands. That is why, when I am governor, I will bring Arizona’s common sense immigration legislation to Florida — something my opponent career politician Bill McCollum opposes.

Yesterday, I announced that as governor I will pursue legislation that will require all employers in the state of Florida to use the free E-verify system to verify the legal status of their employees. To read more about my proposal click here.

Take a stand with me against Obama and the failure of career politicians by signing my petition! I believe that we should have an immigration system where everybody plays by the rules. It is common sense. Click here to sign my common sense petition.

Yours,

Rick Scott

P.S. Please forward this e-mail to 10 of your friends and family members who are tired of career politicians failing to fix our immigration system!

Top 10 Reasons Rick Scott Is Ducking Debates With Bill McCollum

June 25, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Tallahassee, FL – Today, McCollum Campaign for Governor Communications Director Kristy Campbell issued the following statement regarding the Rick Scott Campaigns false claims on the state of primary debate scheduling:

“Let’s get real, Rick Scott. We have seen your campaign’s press releases, but to date, you have refused to respond directly to our repeated attempts to contact your campaign. We’ve called, sent letters, emailed and even faxed. Bill McCollum is ready and prepared to debate Rick Scott and share his vision for the future of Florida voters. Now.”

“While Rick Scott’s clear resistance to debating Bill McCollum anytime in the near future is unfortunate, we don’t blame him. There is certainly no shortage of reasons for his concerns.” <!–more–>

Top 10 Reasons Rick Scott Won’t Debate Bill McCollum:

10. Rick Scott is still learning the names of Florida’s 67 counties and concerned first debate might be in a county he’s doesn’t know about yet. (Bonus video:  http://www.blip.tv/file/3798911).

9.  Rick Scott has yet to find someone to blame for all of the hypocritical positions he holds.

8. Rick Scott needs to come about with a better way to talk about the Obama stimulus in light of revelations he earned $4 million from it.

7. Rick Scott has not released a plan to diversify Florida’s economy, create jobs and lure more   businesses to the state. It’s hard to talk about improving Florida’s economy without a plan to actually do it.

6. Rick Scott still can’t answer questions about his role as the disgraced former Columbia/HCA CEO responsible for overseeing the largest Medicare fraud scheme in American history.

5. Rick Scott needs more time to disassociate himself from companies he owns, like Emida Technologies, the money-wiring company helping illegal immigrants send American money out of the country.

4. Rick Scott’s public image repair team can’t seem to change the subject from the millions his company embezzled from taxpayers.

3. Rick Scott has realized calling yourself a “conservative outsider” despite profiting off of abortions, illegal immigrants, the Obama stimulus and taxpayer fraud is hard to explain.

2. Rick Scott can’t stand being in front of the camera unless he’s paid for it in a TV advertisement.

1. Rick Scott is planning a family values conference in conjunction with Quepasa.com/Playboy Mexico’s Playmate of the Year search.

Bill McCollum for Governor: The Rick Scott Stimulus Plan: Padding His Pocket With Obama Stimulus Dollars

June 24, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Tallahassee, FL – Today, McCollum for Governor Campaign Matt Williams issued the following statement regarding reports that Rick Scott is a major shareholder of company receiving support through President Obama and the Democrats’ stimulus plan:

“Rick Scott’s fraud continues.  As if profiting from illegal immigrants, elective abortions and fraud from taxpayers wasn’t bad enough, we now know he is personally profiting as a major shareholder of a company receiving dollars from President Obama’s stimulus – the same stimulus he says he opposes.” … Continue Reading

McCollum for Governor Announces New TV Ad, “Profit Over Principle”

June 23, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Tallahassee, FL – Today, the McCollum for Governor Campaign launched a new television advertisement, “Profit over Principle.” In the ad, Bill McCollum directly highlights Rick Scott’s hypocrisy on issues critical to conservatives – including pro-life issues, illegal immigration, and government fraud, waste and abuse.

The ad begins airing today in markets across the state. Scripts and viewing links are below.

“Using dollars he walked away with from overseeing one of the most massive Medicare fraud schemes in history, Rick Scott has distorted Bill McCollum’s record of solid conservative leadership in Florida. Voters deserve to know the truth,” said Matt Williams, McCollum for Governor Campaign Manager. “Rick Scott, it’s time to get real with Floridians.” … Continue Reading

Rick Scott for Governor: “Bailout Bill” McCollum Uses Tax Dollars To Fund His Failing Campaign

June 22, 2010 Politics Comments Off

This week Bill McCollum cemented himself as an out-of-touch career politician when he asked Floridians “to tighten the belt” in order to balance state and local budgets on the same day he said that he would accept millions of dollars in taxpayer funds to pay for his increasingly negative campaign.

There is no better example of hypocrisy than a politician who preaches fiscal discipline for his constituents while he feeds at the public trough to fund his own political campaign. … Continue Reading

Alex Sink for Governor: 36,000 United

June 19, 2010 Politics Comments Off

This week, the Florida Police Benevolent Association stood beside Alex Sink as she filled out the paperwork and officially qualified for governor. She is the first Democrat we’ve backed in 20 years.

But our endorsement is not about political party, it is about a candidate who’s shown real dedication to Florida’s law enforcement community.

And Alex has proven time and again that she will listen to the needs of Florida’s officers and fight for our brave members in Tallahassee.

The Florida Police Benevolent Association is 36,000 members strong. For the next five months, we will be mobilizing our members to knock on doors, make phone calls, and do everything we can to help Alex become our next governor. … Continue Reading

ORLANDO – Governor Charlie Crist today attended the 12th annual Family Café to sign two bills benefiting persons with disabilities. The Governor signed the bills ceremonially, surrounded by individuals with disabilities, their families and advocates. Statement by Governor Charlie Crist Regarding Father’s Day – Sunday, June 20, 2010

June 18, 2010 Government Comments Off
Statement by Governor Charlie Crist Regarding Father’s Day – Sunday, June 20, 2010

“This weekend, I join Floridians in celebrating Father’s Day.  A father’s love, guidance and character molds and shapes the ongoing growth of their children.  My father is no doubt one of the greatest influences in my life and is a constant source of strength and encouragement for me every day.

“Father’s Day is an important time to honor and reflect on the men who embrace this rewarding and important responsibility day in and day out.  This year, in honor of Father’s Day, I encourage fathers and families to take advantage of another free fishing weekend and get out and catch saltwater fish along Florida’s beautiful coastlines.  This is not only an opportunity to spend quality family time enjoying Florida’s clean, clear waters but also to lend support to Florida’s fishing communities during this difficult time. … Continue Reading

Bill McColllum for Attorney General: McCollum Campaign to Rick Scott: Release Your Tax Returns

June 17, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Tallahassee, FL – Today, McCollum for Governor Campaign Communications Director Kristy Campbell issued the following statement regarding Rick Scott’s tax returns:

“In the spirit of openness and transparency, Bill McCollum will release his tax returns in the next fourteen days.  We challenge Rick Scott to do the same.”

“Rick Scott has already begun to distance himself from his questionable business decisions.  When asked about them today, he said “others made those decisions for me.”  It is ironic that Rick Scott, who profited from the largest theft of taxpayer money in American history at the time, claims he will bring accountability to government while blaming everyone else for his mistakes. … Continue Reading

Florida Democratic Party: Despite Disqualifying Records, McCollum and Scott Qualify for Ballot

June 17, 2010 Politics Comments Off

As career politician Bill McCollum and disgraced executive Rick Scott qualify as candidates for Florida Governor today, both are facing numerous scandals that call into question whether either is in fact qualified to be Governor.

“As the Republican candidates for Governor qualify today, it’s important for Floridians to know how dangerously unqualified both Rick Scott and Bill McCollum truly are,” said Eric Jotkoff, spokesperson for the Florida Democratic Party. ” Rick Scott has responsibility for the largest Medicare fraud in American history on his watch; Bill McCollum has questionable ties to shadowy political groups and the ongoing Republican Party scandals. Clearly, both candidates are disqualified to be Florida’s next Governor, and the bigger question really is – what are these guys qualified to do?” … Continue Reading
