Kendrick Meek For U.S. Senate: Gazillions

June 23, 2010 Politics Comments Off

The two candidates vying for the Democratic nomination in the Florida Senate race couldn’t be more different.

On one hand, you’ve got Kendrick Meek, who’s been running an aggressive, smart grassroots campaign. Instead of plunking down $10,000 to get on the ballot, Kendrick pounded the pavement and got 140,000 people to support his candidacy. He’s a true man of the people.

And then you’ve got a billionaire who sauntered into the race a few weeks ago and thinks he can just buy the Democratic nomination using the money he made from credit default swaps — the risky investments that helped cause the economic collapse.

Say it with me: Not. So. Fast.

Kendrick is up against a big fundraising deadline on June 30 and needs your help right now. He’s got to raise $100,000 if he hopes to compete against a guy with an endless supply of cash. A contribution of as little as $5 can help show that Kendrick has the grassroots behind him.

Click here and make a donation of $5 or more to Kendrick’s campaign today so he can meet this crucial $100,000 end-of-quarter goal by June 30 and stay competitive in this tough race.

Kendrick and his opponent had a debate yesterday. Greene kept talking about turning the economy around — this coming from a guy who made gazillions off Florida families losing their homes. A guy who literally rooted for Americans — for Floridians — to fail so that he could get rich.

Kendrick isn’t about talk, he’s about action. In Congress, he’s already worked to keep struggling families in their homes, create more jobs and provide health care to all. Kendrick needs to win the Democratic nomination because he’s the only candidate who will stand up for the interests of the people and not his own.

The Democratic Primary is a mere nine weeks away, so we’ve got no time to waste. Greene is all over the airwaves, shooting his mouth off about jobs and the economy — an economy he helped destroy. Kendrick needs to raise $100,000 by June 30 so he can beat this guy and go on to beat Crist and Rubio in November.

Click here to make an immediate contribution to Kendrick’s campaign so he can stop Jeff Greene before he causes any more damage to our country and to the people of Florida.

It’d be a shame if we all woke up the morning after Primary Day to find the “Meltdown Mogul” had successfully purchased the Democratic nomination. Come on, let’s make sure that doesn’t happen.

Sincerely,
James Carville

Kendrick Meek For U.S. Senate: Powerful

June 10, 2010 Politics Comments Off

“Passionate.” “Powerful.” “Strong.”

That is how those who were in attendance described the speech Kendrick gave yesterday at the America’s Future Now conference. The annual gathering of progressive activists was the perfect venue for Kendrick’s message of accountability and change. He voiced sharp criticism of corporate irresponsibility and pled with activists to take a stand. He said:

“Ladies and gentlemen, your purpose right now is greater than ever…You’re supposed to push for folks who can’t push for themselves. And so I come today to tell you to keep up the good work. Continue to challenge us and continue to make us better. Continue to be, “Yes, I know what you did yesterday, but what are you going to do tomorrow?” Continue to make sure individuals are sitting on the edge of their seats, versus leaning back in their seats when it comes down to meeting the needs of individuals who can’t help themselves.”

I am telling you, this speech is too good to miss. We have put together some highlights just for you, and I hope you will take a minute to watch.

Click here to watch highlights of Kendrick’s message.

Thanks,
Abe

PS. We are facing a critical FEC fundraising deadline at the end of the month. While we have the momentum going into summer, we need resources to ensure we can take advantage of it. It’s an all hands on deck moment and you can make the difference right now. Click here to contribute.

Kendrick Meek for U.S. Senate: Whitewashed

June 4, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Charlie Crist likes to think of himself as a newly-minted No Party Affiliation candidate, but he can’t run away from his Republican past.

Just Wednesday, Jim Greer, the man Governor Crist handpicked to run the Republican Party of Florida, was arrested on six felony charges, including grand theft, money laundering, and an organized scheme to defraud the state party. Crist said he was surprised and disappointed, despite having stood by his fellow Republican until the bitter end. … Continue Reading

There’s no question about it — the dynamics of this race have shifted. Ever since this turned into a three-way contest, our campaign has been building momentum, and I wanted you to know about a big development.

I know these endorsements are something Kendrick is particularly proud of. It means a lot to him to have such hardworking Americans and their families on his side as we all work to elect Kendrick the next U.S. Senator from the great state of Florida. Let me tell you, these endorsements are just another sign of our campaign’s strength. … Continue Reading

Meek at the center of a scandal involving earmarks and political corruption. Already, respected Florida political journalist Adam Smith has called it, “a very, very bad weekend,” for Kendrick Meek.

Jeff Greene for U.S. Senate: Meek: A Career Politician Failing Florida

May 6, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Greene campaign consultant Paul Blank issued the following statement in response to the Meek campaign’s latest smear attacks:

“The Washington logic of the memo put out by the Meek campaign today demonstrates how desperate a career politician like Meek can become and why promoting him to higher office after his years of failure would be a mistake for Florida. … Continue Reading

May 3, 2010 Politics Comments Off

“A very grave scenario.” “Very catastrophic.” That is how Federal officials are describing the situation developing in the Gulf of Mexico after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig sunk off the coast of Louisiana last week.

Some estimate that 210,000 gallons of oil are spilling into the Gulf every day – resulting in a slick roughly the size of the state of West Virginia. … Continue Reading
