RPOF Congratulates Marco Rubio

August 25, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Tallahassee–Republican Party of Florida Chairman John Thrasher today released the following statement regarding former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio’s victory in the Republican Primary for the United States Senate.

“Marco Rubio is a principled leader with a conservative vision for our country that stands in stark contrast to the tax-and-spend, big-government agenda of Barack Obama, Kendrick Meek and the Washington Democrats and the flip-flopping political opportunism demonstrated by Charlie Crist.

“Floridians can trust Marco to be a strong and consistent voice in Washington. We know he’ll fight to lower the burden of taxes facing Florida’s families and businesses, protect seniors and work to improve education, so that our children are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

“We congratulate Marco on tonight’s victory, and look forward to electing him as Florida’s next Republican United States Senator in November.”

Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate: Harry Reid Said What?

August 15, 2010 Politics Comments Off

“I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican” - Harry Reid

Yep. He said it. And he’s standing by it!

And Marco is speaking out against it because he knows that no matter what race, creed or ethnicity one is, it is the principles of limited government and individual freedom which define our movement and our party.

This is just the latest example of the wrong-minded, wrong-headed thinking coming out of Washington that we have to put an end to. Statements and leadership like Harry Reid’s will never get America back on the path to prosperity. We have no choice but to stand up and offer a better way.

And that’s just what Marco is doing and people all over the country are responding and standing with Marco! Over 93,000 people have watched Marco’s interview taking Harry Reid to task. Watch “Ridiculous” here and share with your friends.

Fight Harry Reid’s ridiculous and outrageous comments by standing with Marco today. Make your voice heard and donate to help Marco continue to stand up to the extreme liberal agenda and their narrow-minded thinking.

Proud to stand,

Team Rubio

RPOF: Rubio Comments On Kagan Supreme Court Vote

August 5, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Miami, FL – U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate’s vote on the confirmation of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“Elena Kagan is an intelligent and accomplished individual, but if I were in the Senate today, I would cast a vote against her confirmation to the Supreme Court.  My judgment is based on a review of her track record and confirmation hearing performance, which left me with no assurances that she clearly appreciates that the proper role of a judge is not to create laws, but to strictly interpret and apply the law within the parameters of our Constitution.

“Activist judges are all too common throughout America’s judiciary system.  Just yesterday, we saw another example in California, as a federal judge ruled against California’s constitutional amendment regarding traditional marriage.  It serves as another reminder of the importance of judges in our government, and of the important role U.S. senators have in reviewing judicial nominees and casting votes that shape our federal judiciary.

“In the coming years, the Supreme Court will continue wrestling with some of the most significant cases in our history, many of which will stem from the expansion of government under this President and Congress. The American people deserve judges who will interpret laws, not invent them, and who will adhere to the Constitution. Just as important, Floridians deserve a Senator who will clearly and unequivocally explain their judicial philosophy and remain consistent in their application of it. Given the records of my opponents, it is clear that Floridians cannot trust them to fulfill this important responsibility.”

Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp Endorses Marco Rubio for the United States Senate

August 4, 2010 Politics Comments Off

MIAMI – Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp today ended any speculation over who he endorses in the race for the United States Senate by throwing his full support behind Republican Marco Rubio.

“Today I announce my endorsement of Marco Rubio to be Florida’s next United States Senator,” said Lt. Governor Kottkamp. “This endorsement should not be a surprise to any one. As conservative Republicans, Marco and I share the same principals – faith, family and freedom.  Never before have those beliefs meant so much. I cannot in good conscience support a candidate who will go to Washington and push for passage of the Obama agenda.  Too much is at stake in this election and I’m proud to say I support Marco Rubio.”

Lt. Governor Kottkamp may be the one person who best knows Speaker Rubio and Governor Charlie Crist. While serving in the Florida House of Representatives, Kottkamp was slated to be Speaker Rubio’s Majority Leader before he was selected by Governor Crist to be his running mate in 2006.

“My decision to endorse Marco will undoubtedly impact what’s left of my working relationship with Gov. Crist, although since he left the Republican Party in April, he and I have not spoken. This election is much bigger than personal relationships – it’s about the future of our country.”

Statement By Bondi Spokesman On Kottkamp’s Endorsement Of Marco Rubio

August 3, 2010 Politics Comments Off

“On August 3, 2010, three weeks before the Republican primary election, Jeff Kottkamp is announcing that he will endorse Marco Rubio, the Republican candidate, who is running in Florida’s U.S. Senate race against Kottkamp’s boss and mentor Charlie Crist, the candidate who no longer has any party affiliation.

“First, I would like to welcome Kottkamp to the Rubio camp. The movement started over a year ago when Mr. Rubio’s candidacy was polling in single digits and Mr. Crist’s in the 50s. Since that time, however, Mr. Rubio has energized observers with his consistently conservative message and optimistic vision for our state and country. He has been on the covers of the New York Times magazine and National Review magazine, appeared on countless television news shows, been the keynote speaker at CPAC, and generally captivated the conservative movement in America.

“While Mr. Kottkamp as recently as a week ago declined to disclose who he would be voting for in this Senate race, we feel confident in asserting that there has been a full record of evidence that Marco Rubio is the Republican in this Senate race and is considered by both Republicans and Democrats to be the most conservative choice.

“If these news items escaped Mr. Kottkamp’s attention, that is unfortunate. If he has decided to throw his support to Mr. Rubio at this late hour for political expediency, we are disappointed.

“Regardless, one endorsement three weeks before an election does not change one’s record.”

Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate: I Jumped Out of a Plane!

July 30, 2010 Politics Comments Off

You may remember me from last June 20th when I was so inspired by a little-known candidate running for the U.S. Senate and believed in him so much, that I put on his bumper sticker and…

Jumped out of a plane!

Yep. Marco Rubio was making a leap of faith running against the odds, fueled only by the courage of his convictions. So, I took that leap with him.

I’m proud to continue standing with Marco today and I ask that you join me in the movement of supporters and activists across the state lending their voices to Marco’s campaign and speaking out in support of the conservative values. Along with telling your friends about why Marco is the one they should support this November, please also consider making a donation today. … Continue Reading

Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate: The Countdown Begins

The time to act is now.

In less than 100 days, Floridians will go to the polls and cast their votes in an election that could decide the future of our country.

Will we stay on the path of bigger government and out-of-control spending that the Obama-Pelosi agenda has put us on?

Will we stand by the wrong-minded policies that are diminishing and devaluing our nation’s economic and national security? … Continue Reading

Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate: Big News This Week

July 24, 2010 Politics Comments Off

We have lots of good news this week.  Marco received two big endorsements from the National Federation of Independent Business and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce! This week’s announcements continue to prove that Marco is the only candidate in this race who is willing to stand up to Washington’s reckless, job-destroying agenda by fighting for small businesses and tackling the out-of-control government spending.

Here’s what they’re saying about Marco’s steady pro-jobs leadership and agenda:

“We will endorse Marco Rubio because he has a record of standing up for the people of Florida during challenging economic times. He is an invaluable leader who has a common sense approach to job creation and getting America back on the road to recovery. On issues ranging from competition in the health care industry, to lowering taxes, to reducing energy costs, Florida’s businesses and workers will have a tireless advocate in Marco Rubio,” - Bill Miller, the U.S. Chamber’s senior vice president and political director. … Continue Reading

Marco Rubio For U.S. Senate: URGENT: Action Needed

July 21, 2010 Politics Comments Off

We write to you today to bring your attention to an article in the Wall Street Journal that covered a wide range of topics with the newly “independent”- in name only- candidate Charlie Crist. After 3 months of flip flops to court the liberal establishment and shed his former GOP image, we’re not surprised by much he says these days but this one is of critical notice.

He came out last year in opposition to the Supreme Court nomination of Justice Sonia Sotomayor, but now says that he “probably” took that position because he felt pressure from the GOP primary. Asked if he felt differently now, he said: “Perhaps.” – Wall Street Journal

Not only did Crist admit he’s actively speaking with Harry Reid and left the door open to caucusing with Democrats if elected, he also flip-flopped on supporting Justice Sonia Sotomayor, admitting that he “probably” lied about what he truly believed in order to win Republican votes. Most importantly, Crist says he now supports the President’s health care law. With more Americans opposing ObamaCare and a clear majority of Floridians calling for its repeal, Crist’s latest attempt to say and do anything to win an election, or in this case gain some Democrat favor, has now put him out of the mainstream.

This kind of finger-in-the-wind politics is what’s hurting America. Watch the video of Crist going back on his own words here and stand with Marco today by recruiting 5 friends to sign the “Repeal and Replace” petition and tell Charlie it’s time to stop putting his own political interests ahead of ours.

For one of the most important issues a Senator will ever vote on, Crist admitted he took a position he didn’t believe in – “Probably” says it all.

Did he take a position he didn’t believe in?

“Probably”

Did he just admit it?

“Probably”

Will he do it again?

“Probably”

Will he caucus with Democrats?

“Probably”

Will he look after Charlie’s interests more than he ever will Floridians’?

“Probably”

Is it time for a principled leader who knows exactly where he stands and isn’t afraid to tackle the tough challenges of our times?

Certainly.

Stand with Marco today.  Sign the petition to Repeal and Replace ObamaCare and then ask your friends and family to do the same.

RPOF: On the Campaign Trail – Senate Majority Leader Alex Diaz de la Portilla Endorses Marco Rubio

RPOF: On the Campaign Trail – Senate Majority Leader Alex Diaz de la Portilla Endorses Marco Rubio

“I am proud today to put my support behind my friend Marco Rubio in his bid to become the next United States Senator from Florida.  Marco has proven his commitment to Conservative values since first becoming a public servant and he has always stated a clear position of where he stands on issues important to Floridians.  But Marco represents not just Conservative values, but American values as well, in which less government and lower taxes leads to prosperity and success every time.  He understands the value of freedom and democracy and the evils that emerge when government grows too large.

“There is one candidate in particular in this race who has betrayed Floridians time and again with his empty rhetoric, persistent pandering and flip-flopping on critical issues.  Florida deserves better than Charlie Crist and his broken promises, and Floridians have the choice in this election to reject career politicians who will do and say anything to be elected and instead elect a proven leader who stands on principle, not on poll results.  Charlie Crist’s embrace of the liberal agenda of Washington D.C. has been a career in the making and is further proof that he is the wrong choice for our state – and nation – at this time.

“Marco is the only candidate in this race that provides a true alternative to what is going on in Washington D.C. right now.  We are at a crucial, pivotal point in our nation’s history and we are poised to go down a road of expanded government that could lead to socialism if left unchecked.  I know Marco has the courage and conviction to stand up to those in Washington who say that America’s best days are behind us and he will instead help to restore America’s image as a shining city on a hill.”

Marco Rubio For U.S. Senate: Ideas to Reclaim America

July 13, 2010 Politics Comments Off

As Americans, we have reached a point in our history when we must decide if we are to continue on the free market, limited government path that has made us exceptional, or if we are prepared to follow the rest of the world down the road of government dependency. It is a clear choice between two very different futures, and I believe the American people are prepared to make the tough, but necessary, choices to ensure future generations enjoy unrivaled levels of job growth, freedom, security and prosperity.

Today, at a town hall meeting in Tampa, I made the first in a series of proposals to reclaim America’s future by offering a clear alternative to the anti-growth, anti-job creation economic policies coming out of Washington. America is the greatest country in the world, but Washington has been taken over by big spending politicians from both parties who will say or do anything to get elected. I am the only candidate offering an alternative and willing to challenge the direction they’re taking our country.

Furthermore, we need real leadership to ensure that Florida’s Gulf Coast recovers economically from the oil spill. Instead, we get Washington-style gimmicks like a special session to ban something that’s already illegal under Florida law. The governor’s constitutional amendment won’t help one small business keep their doors open, save one job, or speed-up one economic claim from BP. These ideas to help the Gulf Coast are derived from the town hall meetings I have held with Panhandle residents, officials and employers over the last month. Watch our kickoff video here.

Please take a moment to read my ideas to foster a pro-growth economic environment in Florida and across our country. You can find my outlines here:”12 Simple Ways To Grow Our Economy” and “11 Simple Ways To Help The Gulf Coast Economy.” If you agree with me that we need to put ideas on the table, please take a moment to share them with your friends and family and help start the debate to reclaim America.

Thank you,
Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio For U.S. Senate: You answered our call… and broke records!

July 12, 2010 Politics Comments Off

First, let me say thank you!

It has been a great privilege to join such a motivated and passionate team of people who are working tirelessly in a movement we can all rally around – reclaiming our country by standing up for our core conservative values and electing Marco Rubio to the U.S. Senate.

And now you proved we are gaining significant ground every day, as this fundraising quarter we pulled together and raised a RECORD BREAKING $4.5 million.  THANK YOU to our dedicated volunteers and fundraisers.

I know we ask you for money, often, and we are extremely grateful for each and every time you answered the call. Raising money isn’t the most pleasant part of any campaign but it IS critically important to get our message out and build our team. So, we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know your investment in our cause is being put to good use.

Thanks to each dollar raised we have been able to:

Build our ground campaign in the field by hiring field coordinators.
Stock our volunteers with bumper stickers and brochures.
Marco has continued traveling the state, meeting with voters and spreading his positive vision.
Plus, we had a great month on television in April introducing millions of Floridians to Marco and his compelling message of authentic conservatism.
Thanks to you, our team is growing and is stronger than ever. And together, we will be positioned for victory in November. The numbers speak for themselves:

over 100,000 friends on Facebook
over 75,000 donors, with an average donation of $85.
This is a real testament to the movement uniting behind Marco for a grassroots victory.

While we may not have some of the financial advantages our opponents have, we have faith that the team we are building from the ground up is the team that will prevail in November. This is not an election special interest or liberal establishment money can buy, because the choice is too important to our country’s future.

So thank you for answering our calls to action and thank you for being part of the team. Marco has tasked me with putting your investment to good use to grow our team, get our message out in this very expensive state, and prepare our troops for a win in November.  A year ago, many were convinced that our principled campaign against the big spending Obama-Pelosi-Crist agenda stood no chance in the face of better-funded and more popular opponents.  A year later, we are humbled our supporters have always understood what the stakes are in this election and have rallied behind us.  Today’s announcement marks another important grassroots milestone on our way to ensuring our message is heard loud and clear throughout Florida this fall.

Thank you!
Team Rubio

P.S. The truth is Marco’s passionate fight to return to the principles of limited government started long before this campaign for the US Senate. As the St. Pete Times reported: “Marco Rubio’s U.S. Senate campaign grew out of his 2007 antitax roots…You could tell that he wasn’t just speaking about something, he was speaking about something he believed in.”

This week Marco traveled around Florida for a series of events, sharing his vision for a better future and meeting with concerned Floridians. Marco Rubio For U.S. Senate: URGENT: Big deadline today

June 30, 2010 Politics Comments Off

Trial lawyers. Union bosses. Lobbyists. Liberal Special interests. Former DSCC Chair Chuck Schumer’s media machine. Barack Obama’s political director…

These are all people lining up to support the newly minted “independent” (in name only) Charlie Crist’s candidacy.

According to recent news reports:

“Party affiliation wasn’t the only thing Gov. Charlie Crist switched when he dropped out of the GOP primary and decided to run as independent in the Florida Senate race. Mr. Crist has piqued the ire of many conservatives by flip-flopping on a number of issues in order to ingratiate himself with liberals. In fact, he’s made so many 180s that many Democrats are now considering throwing their weight and money behind him in order to upend the remaining Republican in the race, Marco Rubio.” – Wall Street Journal

We may not have and definitely don’t want the liberal establishment ready to fill our campaign coffers, but we have a motivated team guided by principles, not politics. Please help us fight back against the liberals’ “Anybody but Marco” campaign by donating $20.  Help send a message that Florida’s Senate seat is not for sale to the highest bidder.

If you think it’s time to stop the politics of power corrupting Washington today, we need your help on Team Rubio.

There are two things you can do to help reach our goal before the fundraising quarter deadline – TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT!

Make a donation to the cause. $20 goes a long way when the grassroots comes together.
Sign up to become a Rubio Raiser. This special program that helps you spread Marco’s positive conservative message and helps us raise money from real people, not special interests, who are empowered to take back our country.
Together we can send a conservative voice to the U.S. Senate who is willing to fight for the principles that made this country great. We can send a leader who we can trust. One who will stand up to the liberal agenda that is bankrupting our country and one who will offer a clear alternative to put us back on the right path.

Thanks for all you already do.  We really wouldn’t be here without the support of dedicated Americans like you.

Proud to stand,
Team Rubio
