Public Information Meeting for John Young Parkway Widening Project

Posted on January 8, 2018

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public meeting regarding the State Road (S.R.) 423/John Young Parkway widening construction project. The meeting is an informal open house format scheduled for next Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The American Legion Department of Florida, 1912A Lee Road, Orlando, FL 32810. Plans will be available for review and project staff will be available to address questions.
The $28 million project will widen John Young Parkway from four to six lanes beginning at S.R. 50/West Colonial Drive and ending at Shader Road. Other improvements include curb and gutter, drainage, two new ponds, sidewalks, lighting, signing and pavement markings, intelligent transportation system (ITS) improvements, and signals. Work is slated to begin early 2018.
Persons with disabilities who require accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Shemir Wiles, Public Information Coordinator, at 321-319-8130 or via email at [email protected]. If you are hearing or speech impaired, please contact us by using the Florida Relay Service, 1-800-955-8771 (TDD) or 1-800-955-8770 (Voice).
Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons wishing to express their concerns relative to FDOT compliance with Title VI may do so by contacting Jennifer Smith, FDOT District Five Title VI Coordinator, [email protected].
For construction-related questions, please contact Shemir Wiles. Media inquiries should be directed to FDOT Communications Manager Steve Olson at 386-943-5479 or [email protected].
FDOT advises drivers to slow down in construction zones; the life you save may be your own.
