Governor Rick Scott visited the C.W. Bill Young Armed Forces Reserve Center in Pinellas Park to award 90 veterans with his Governor’s Service Medal. Since 2013 Governor Scott has awarded nearly 15,000 veterans with the Governor’s Veterans Service Medal.
The following veteran was highlighted by the Governor at today’s event:
Specialist Selena Coffman is a Geospacial Engineer in the Florida Army National Guard. In 2015, she was named Soldier of the Year for the 53rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, and has been the guidon bearer for her unit for the past three years. Specialist Coffman is currently attending classes at UCF so she can one day become an officer. She has served on State Active Duty three times, including during Hurricane Irma.
