Today, the Manny Diaz Campaign announced the endorsement of Virginia Gardens Mayor Spencer Deno IV. Diaz has represented District 103 in the Florida House of Representatives since 2012 and is seeking the District 36 seat in the state senate. Deno was elected Mayor of Virginia Gardens in 2003 and is the latest Miami-Dade mayor to join the growing list of elected officials endorsing Diaz.
“Manny Diaz is a strong leader whose commitment to our community has served us very well,” said Deno. “In the Florida House, Manny has demonstrated his commitment to improving Florida’s education system as well as addressing practical local and constituent concerns. I am confident he will continue to serve with the same tenacity and dedication to our community in the Florida Senate.”
Deno was born and raised in Virginia Gardens and is the youngest mayor in Virginia Gardens history. He has worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, serving as the South Florida District Safety Manager. Deno became the youngest elected City Council President in Virginia Gardens when he was elected in 1997.
“I am honored to receive Mayor Deno’s endorsement,” said Diaz. “He has served Virginia Gardens very well for many years, and I am grateful to have him join our team. I look forward to continuing our partnership in improving the communities we are privileged to call home.”
In addition to Deno, Diaz has also been endorsed by several other Miami-Dade government officials including Mayor Francis Suarez of the City of Miami; Mayor Carlos Hernandez of Hialeah; Mayor JC Bermudez of Doral; Mayor Yioset De La Cruz of Hialeah Gardens; Mayor Manny Cid of Miami Lakes; and Mayor Roberto Martell of Medley.
