The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing on proposed improvements along State Road (S.R.) 15/600 (U.S. 17/92) from north of Lake Mary Boulevard to north of Airport Boulevard, which includes intersection improvements at Airport Boulevard. The hearing will be on Tuesday, June 19, at the Seminole County Public Safety Administration Building from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a public comment period following a presentation.
This project proposes to extend the existing right turn lanes on U.S. 17/92 to create a continuous outside turn lane for traffic in both directions. The new roadway will consist of a 30-foot raised median with 11-foot lanes and a 7-foot buffered bike lane. An additional westbound right turn lane and traffic separator along Airport Boulevard will be added to enhance the functionality and safety of the existing intersection. In addition to widening the roadway, this project includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements, traffic signal updates, driveway improvements and a safety modification to the existing mid-block pedestrian crossing. These projects are funded for construction in the fall of 2020.
