Jeff Greene Launches Week-long $2.9 Million Statewide TV and Digital Ad Buy

Posted on June 19, 2018

The Palm Beach Democrat’s first two ads launch statewide with a media
buy four times the dollar amount of his closest Democratic competitor

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jeff Greene launched his first two television ads statewide today: a bio focused on Greene’s humble beginnings and desire to give Florida families a raise, and a second ad focused on his track record of going head-to-head with President Trump to defend Democratic values. The $2.9 million week-long TV and digital ad buy is funded at four times the dollar amount of his closest Democratic competitor.

Greene entered the Governor’s race earlier this month, launching a self-funded campaign to offer a breakthrough voice and vision for Florida after polls revealed most Democratic voters remain undecided. A struggling busboy-turned-billionaire who worked three jobs and took out student loans to get through college and Harvard Business School, Greene wants to give every family in Florida the same tools and opportunities to succeed that he had, with a strong focus on boosting public education and expanding access to pre-kindergarten for 3- and 4-year-olds.

Policy aside, Greene’s unique appeal to Florida Democrats lies in his ability to spend whatever it takes to go toe-to-toe with historically better-funded Republicans in the general election to help Democrats regain control of the Governor’s mansion for the first time in 20 years without being beholden to special interest groups.

He is expected to travel to Tallahassee this week to file qualifying papers.

On background
Video of Jeff Greene/Donald Trump altercation: This video is from December 2016 at the Trump Palm Beach golf course, of which Greene is not a member, but where he was attending a friend’s birthday dinner. Greene was crossing the room when then-President-elect Trump – who was dining with his wife and son, as well as Hope Hicks, Kellyanne Conway, and others – became agitated, pointing at Greene and yelling to those seated at his table about how Jeff Greene spent money to support Hillary Clinton’s campaign and went on national TV to speak out against him. Greene stood his ground and replied that yes, he supported Hillary Clinton, he is a proud Democrat, and that he did not agree with Trump or his campaign. Greene’s wife was seated two tables away from the altercation in the crowded dining room and filmed this clip.
