State of the Race: Matt Caldwell Qualifies to Run for Commissioner of Agriculture

Posted on June 19, 2018

Matt’s hard work  is creating the momentum needed for victory

Matt Caldwell qualified to run for Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, running the only truly statewide campaign for Commissioner. Since the campaign’s kick-off one year ago, Caldwell has traveled over 70,000 miles across all 67 counties in Florida. He is talking to voters, sharing his conservative message and building support for his grassroots campaign. His hard work is creating the momentum needed for victory.

Caldwell continues to outwork his opponents and unite Floridians, capturing 5 straw poll wins across the state.

The campaign has also announced the endorsements of Republican House & Senate members from every delegation in the State. This is in addition to endorsements from the Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA), Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida, U.S. Congressmen Matt Gaetz & Francis Rooney, former candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture Paul Paulson, and county, city, and local officeholders across the state.

The campaign launched the #2LaneTravels webpage to highlight the campaign travels across the Sunshine State in his bid for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture.

Fundraising –  Matt Caldwell’s campaign and Political Committee has raised nearly $2.2 million.

While some typical politicians in this race are willing to waste Floridians hard earned tax dollars to bankroll their campaigns, Matt has made it clear that he will not take taxpayer money to fund his campaign. And while “self-funders” may try to buy a seat and avoid the hard work of a campaign trail, Matt is running the only true, statewide campaign for Commissioner.  Matt’s track record and conservative message are the reason he leads in actual funds raised from supporters across the state.

#2LaneTravels Workdays – To best show Floridians how the Commissioner of Agriculture oversees a vast and diverse number of jobs, we went on the road to every corner of the state to highlight a different business and how it impacts the Agriculture community and, more importantly, all Floridians. Below is a list of some of those:

Key Largo Fisheries, Monroe County

Sea Turtle Release, Monroe County

Usher Land & Timber, Wakulla County

Tire Shop, Lake County

Blueberry, Lake County

Flowers, Miami-Dade County

Horticulture & Nursery, Orange County

Firefighters, Miami-Dade County

Invasive Species, Manatee County

Dairy Farm, Suwannee County

Straw Polls – Matt is blazing his own path and decided early on to travel the state earning grassroots support. Matt has traveled over 70,000 miles through all 67 counties in Florida engaging with job creators, community leaders, and party activists. Matt has attended club meetings, outdoor BBQs, community parades and various dinners such as the Cattleman Association. Matt is outworking his opponents and it is apparent by his 5 straw poll wins across Florida.

Federated Republican Women of Orange County – 50% Caldwell, 46% Grimsley

WBOB Jacksonville Straw Poll – 60% Caldwell, 24% Grimsley, 16% Troutman

Southwest YRS – 73% Caldwell

Lee County REC – 91% Caldwell, 9% Grimsley

Clay County Republican Executive Committee – 46.5% Caldwell, 31.5% Troutman, 18% Grimsley, 4% McCalister

Endorsements & Finance Committee – Matt’s campaign announced endorsements statewide in addition to a powerhouse finance committee with leaders from every major sector of the agriculture industry, from row crop and citrus growers to timber and cattle ranchers. The campaign also has support that expands beyond the agriculture community to folks who deeply care about the direction of our state, who are job creators and activists that engage in our state’s future. These leaders have consistently stood with conservative, principled leaders and that is why they are committed to supporting Matt. To view the list, click HERE.
