The University of North Florida has been named a 2018 Best and Most Affordable LGBTQ-Friendly Online College by SR Education Group, a leading education research publisher.
“This is something the whole campus can be proud of,” explained Kaitlin Legg, UNF LGBT Resource Center director. “The LGBT Center is vital in this work, but it’s a collaborative effort between all of the University’s employees and students that creates an inclusive climate.”
On the Most Affordable LGBTQ-Friendly list, UNF ranked No. 5 in the nation. The schools on this list are committed to affordability and offer various online degree programs that cost less than $12,000 per year.
On the Best LGBTQ-Friendly list, UNF was ranked among the top 60 accredited institutions that have adopted policies and/or practices that demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity for LGBTQ students and have at least 15 online degree options.
“UNF’s LGBT Center ensures that inclusion is weaved into the fabric of what we do as Ospreys – that’s why students who value diversity, whether they are in-person or online, seek UNF,” said Legg.
For the LGBTQ-friendly lists, SR Education Group considered schools that have been awarded four or more stars on the Campus Pride Index. Campus Pride is a nonprofit organization that generates national standards and assessment tools for LGBTQ-friendly institutions of higher education. The Index rates schools based on a five-star scale that incorporates eight LGBTQ-friendly factors.
