Debra will fight for working families across the state.
The Florida AFL-CIO has endorsed Debra Bellanti for House District 60 race over incumbent Jackie Toledo.
The Florida AFL-CIO represents over 500 local labor unions, 10 councils, and over one million union members, retirees, and their families in the state.
“Debra Bellanti shares our concerns about the direction of the Florida Legislature,” said Cheryl Schroeder, with the West Central Florida Labor Council. “The current representative votes against issues that working families care about such as a quality public education system and a worker’s compensation program that assists workers. We are proud to endorse Debra Bellanti as someone who will listen to and act on the needs of her district.”
“I am proud and grateful for the support of the Florida AFL-CIO in my run for the Florida State House of Representative, District 60,” Bellanti said. “I stand with our Unions and I promise to fight for working families and give them the voice they have long been lacking in our Florida Legislature.”
Bellanti, a native Floridian, has lived and worked in the district for over 26 years. She is a small business owner and active in her community, having served on many non-profit boards and with volunteer organizations. She is a proud supporter of our public schools and active in her daughter’s school’s PTA.
Along with the AFL-CIO, Debra has been endorsed by the Florida Education Association, the Hillsborough County Classroom Teachers Association, Ironworkers Local 397, Working Families Party, County Commissioner Pat Kemp, Former Mayor of Tampa Sandy Freedman, social activist and organizer Heather Booth, and many others. Debra has also been named a Gun Sense Candidate of Distinction by Moms Demand Action.
Florida House District 60 encompasses the majority of South Tampa, includes Apollo Beach and parts of Ruskin, and is considered a competitive seat.
