The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Orlando Cybercrime unit arrested today David Maurice Nye, 52, of 1068 Eagles Nest Ave., Deltona, on 14 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of promotion of child pornography.
Nye is a registered sex offender based on a 1996 lewd and lascivious conviction in Seminole County.
Task Force Agents from Homeland Security Investigations and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the case.
During the investigation, agents learned that Nye was uploading files from a specific IP address with suspected child pornography. After obtaining and executing a search warrant at Nye’s home, agents found evidence of child pornography on digital devices. Nye had downloaded several files and had also advertised files, which agents were able to directly download from him. The devices were seized for further forensic analysis.
While at Nye’s home, agents discovered a marijuana growing operation. VCSO investigators are reviewing the case.
Nye was taken to the Volusia County Jail on a no-bond status. The State Attorney’s Office, 7th Judicial Circuit, will prosecute.
