Commissioner Bovo joins a host of Miami-Dade elected
officials in backing Manny Diaz’s bid for the Florida Senate.
The Manny Diaz Campaign today announced the endorsement of Miami-Dade County District 13 Commissioner Esteban “Steve” Bovo. Diaz has represented District 103 in the Florida House of Representatives since 2012 and is seeking the District 36 seat in the state senate. Bovo’s endorsement comes on the heels of support for Diaz from numerous local officials in Miami-Dade County.
“Manny Diaz really cares about this community, and I am very happy to support him for the Florida Senate,” said Bovo. “He has been a strong leader for us in the House, and I’m confident he’ll continue his forward-thinking, people-oriented approach to legislation in the Senate. I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
Bovo was first elected to the District 13 seat on Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners and is serving as the Board’s chair during the 2017-2018 term. He was elected to serve District 110 in the Florida House of Representatives in 2008 and was re-elected in 2010 without opposition. In 1998, he was appointed to the City Council of Hialeah, later serving as Council President.
“I am honored to have the support of a dedicated public servant like Steve Bovo,” said Diaz. “He has been working hard for years to make our community an even better place to live and work, and I look forward to continuing our strong working relationship.”
In addition to Bovo, Diaz has also been endorsed by Mayor Fred Spencer Deno IV of Virginia Gardens; Mayor Francis Suarez of the City of Miami; Mayor Carlos Hernandez of Hialeah; Mayor JC Bermudez of Doral; Mayor Yioset De La Cruz of Hialeah Gardens; Mayor Manny Cid of Miami Lakes; Mayor Roberto Martell of Medley; Mayor Billy Bain of Miami Springs; and Hialeah City Council President Vivan Casals Muñoz.
