PSC Increases Billing Options for Duke’s Commercial Customers

Posted on July 10, 2018

The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved extending Duke Energy Florida, LLC’s (DEF) budget billing program to commercial customers. Currently available to residential customers, DEF’s commercial customers will now have the option of a predictable monthly bill payment.

“Budget billing helps customers have more control over their energy spending,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “By using this billing option, Duke’s commercial customers can avoid steep bill increases during Florida’s warmest and coldest months when more power is used.”

Budget billing spreads costs evenly month to month by charging a pre-arranged amount on each bill.  The customer is billed based upon an average of their last 12 months’ usage, rather than their actual monthly usage.

DEF’s extended budget billing program is effective today, upon Commission approval. The PSC previously approved commercial customers’ budget billing programs for Florida Power & Light Company and Gulf Power Company.
