Last week, 400 families received a box of free food during a Farm Share distribution held in partnership with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, where more than 16,000 pounds of food was given away to community members.
In areas where trust between the public and police is deeply damaged, such as between minority communities and law enforcement, Farm Share sees this as an opportunity to break barriers, have real conversations, and make connections between the residents and police in their neighborhoods. The goal is to help community members interact with local law enforcement while also helping those who don’t have access to nutritious food.
Farm Share looks forward to continuing this impactful partnership with the Sheriff’s Office and expanding this distribution program to provide more food to those in need within the Tallahassee community.
