New CFO and Science and Technology Dean Named
Florida A&M University (FAMU) President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., has announced several updates as he continues his efforts to recruit and retain top leadership at the University.
“FAMU has a 130-year legacy of academic excellence, and I remain committed to ensuring that each leader at our institution will not only sustain that legacy but build upon it,” Robinson said. “Our ongoing efforts to fill key University positions are focused on ensuring that FAMU is successful in executing its strategic plan, fulfilling its mission and exceeding state and national standards.”
Ford Named Permanent CFO
Wanda Ford, D.M., has been named CFO and vice president for Finance and Administration. Previously serving in the role in an interim capacity since 2016, Ford also served the University as executive director of FAMU’s Title III Programs since 2013. She started her tenure at the University in 2001 as the assistant controller, responsible for contracts and grants. She will assume her new position immediately. As CFO, Ford is responsible for overseeing some of the University’s vital operations, including information technology, human resources, facilities planning and construction, the budget office and controllers office, business process improvement and campus business auxiliaries.
Aló Named New Dean of Science and Technology
After the completion of a national search in partnership with Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Richard Aló, Ph.D., has been named the new dean of the College of Science and Technology. He will begin his post on August 15.
Since 2012, Aló served as the dean of the Jackson State University College of Science, Engineering, and Technology, which has recently garnered national recognition for its impact in data-science and engineering. Prior to his leadership role at Jackson State, he had a fruitful career with the National Science Foundation, where he served as program director in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources and Division of Undergraduate Education. He also served as the executive director of the Center for Computational Sciences and Advanced Distributed Simulation at the University of Houston-Downtown.
Search Underway for Permanent Provost
Dr. Robinson has begun the search for a permanent provost and vice president for academic affairs. Applications are being accepted through July 23 via FAMU’s Human Resources portal here.
