Division of Elections Extending Voter Assistance Hotline Hours

The Florida Elections Division is extending the hours of its Voter Assistance Hotline after complaints and reports throughout the state that the state’s online registration database was malfunctioning. The decision allows voters more time to register or make changes to their registrations before the primary deadline. The League of Women Voters of Florida and the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law had urged the state to extend the hotline hours.

“We applaud the Division for responding to reports of technical issues with the site,” said Patricia Brigham, president of the League of Women Voters of Florida. “We are very appreciative they took our suggestion to extend the customer hotline hours.”
“This is a positive step for Florida voters,” said Myrna Pérez, director of the Brennan Center’s Voting Rights and Elections Project. “It is critical that voters have the resources and information they need to register.”
The division will provide customer service hotline hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday (July 28) and Sunday (July 29), and extend hours on Monday, the deadline for registering in advance of the Aug 28 primary, from 8 a.m. to midnight.
If anyone has trouble using the site, they should immediately contact the Division of Elections Voter Assistance Hotline at 1-866-308-6739 or [email protected] and the League of Women Voters of Florida at [email protected].
For more information or to connect with a League of Women Voters representative, contact Patricia Brigham at [email protected]. For more information or to connect with a Brennan Center expert, contact Rebecca Autrey at [email protected] or 646-292-8316.
