Man with legal license to carry a firearm engages shooter and saves lives
Representative Matt Caldwell, the principled conservative candidate for Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture, thanked the man who prevented tragedy and saved lives in Titusville.
On Saturday, an unidentified man opened fire on a crowd of parents and schoolchildren attending “Peace in the City,” a back-to-school event billed as a “day of fun” with “no violence,” the Daily Caller reported yesterday. The potential mayhem was heroically thwarted by a local man with a legal license to carry a firearm who swiftly engaged and subdued the shooter. None of the attendees was harmed.
“I thank the hero in Titusville who, through quick thinking and swift action, saved countless lives and prevented a horrific tragedy.” Caldwell said. “If the attempted shooting had taken place at a school – currently designated “gun-free zones” – this law abiding citizen would have been prohibited from engaging the shooter. This is another example of how a good guy with a gun has saved lives, kept families intact, and prevented another senseless tragedy.”
Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture holds one of the highest elected offices in Florida, serves as the guardian of Florida concealed-weapon license system, and safeguards the Second Amendment. As a candidate for Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Caldwell has a growing list of conservative leaders and organizations endorsing him, which includes Senator Marco Rubio, Congressman Matt Gaetz, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) and the Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA).
