The former congressman joins a growing list of
endorsements for Enriquez’s bid for House District 114.
The Javier Enriquez Campaign today announced the endorsement of former Congressman Lincoln Díaz-Balart. Enriquez, a Republican, is running for the Florida House in District 114. Díaz-Balart’s support follows State Representative Manny Diaz’s recent endorsement of Enriquez.
“I’m proud to endorse Javier Enriquez,” said Díaz-Balart. “He is a solid young leader who has proven his dedication to our community. Javier will be a strong voice for South Florida in Tallahassee. I am proud to support him.”
Díaz-Balart, the author of the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) and the codification of U.S. sanctions on the Cuban dictatorship, was a U.S. Representative from South Florida from 1993 to 2011. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1986 to 1989 and the Florida Senate from 1989 to 1992. Currently a practicing attorney, he is the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI).
“It’s an honor to have Congressman Diaz-Balart’s support,” said Enriquez. “He has been an outstanding public servant, and I appreciate the values and principles that have always infused his leadership in our area. I’m proud to have his endorsement, and I look forward to working with him and following the example of service he set.”
Enriquez has also earned the support of Coral Gables Mayor Raul Valdés-Fauli, the Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, Florida Right to Life, and Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast Chapter.
