The paper says Marc Vann is “a dedicated public servant
and has a track record of standing up for taxpayers.”
In case you missed it, the Lake City Reporter has endorsed Marc Vann for the Florida House of Representatives. Vann is seeking the District 10 seat, currently held by Elizabeth Porter, who faces term limits this year. Porter endorsed Vann for the seat in January.
“Over the course of my family’s 70 years in business here and through the eight months of this campaign, this community has gotten to know me very well,” said Vann. “I appreciate the Lake City Reporter’sacknowledgement of my commitment to our region and to taking our conservative values of limited government and low taxes to Tallahassee. I’m grateful for their support and the support I’ve received from so many wonderful people across this district. We plan to keep working hard all the way through the primary on August 28, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve my friends and neighbors in the Legislature.”
The Lake City Reporter’s endorsement is based on unanimous recommendation from its editorial board and may be read here and below:
“Marc Vann is our choice in this contest.
“Vann is a successful Lake City businessman, dead-set on keeping the American Dream alive for generations to come.
“Working alongside his parents at their family-owned store molded his values and made him the man he is today.
“Vann’s aims are our aims: to limit government overreach and remove obstacles from the path of people who want to succeed and are willing to work for it.
“Vann understands the practical implications of the complex policy matters he will confront as our next state representative.
“He is an honest man who will find a way to get the job done, much the way he did as a member of the Lake Shore Hospital Authority for nine years, during which time he saved Columbia County taxpayers something on the order of $1.5 million.
“He has served on many public boards and commissions in our area. He is a dedicated public servant and has a track record of standing up for taxpayers.
“He puts his own money where his mouth is, too, having invested $1 million last year in the revitalization of downtown Lake City. His company’s purchase of an old bank that had sat vacant for years will help ensure the future of his family business as well as the city at large.
“Vann is the candidate who will serve District 10 best. He has earned local residents’ support.”
