Governor Rick Scott today announced Rebecca Kapusta will become the Secretary of the Florida Department of Children and Families on an interim basis. She will be replacing Secretary Mike Carroll who is leaving the agency effective September 6, 2018 after serving at DCF since 1990.
Governor Scott said, “I am proud to announce that Rebecca Kapusta will become the interim secretary at DCF. Rebecca has served the Department for more than 10 years, I’m sure she’ll continue to work to better our communities and protect Florida’s most vulnerable citizens.”
Rebecca currently holds the position of Assistant Secretary for Operations at DCF, before which she was the General Counsel for the department. She has served with the department for 12 years and has previously served in Children’s Legal Services, as Assistant General Counsel, andAssistant Regional Counsel. Prior to joining the department, Rebecca served as a GeneralMagistrate in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at theUniversity of Central Florida and earned her law degree from Stetson University College of Law.
