Debra will stand up for women across the state
Emily’s List has endorsed Debra Bellanti for House District 60 race over incumbent Jackie Toledo.
“Debra Bellanti knows all too well the challenges facing Florida families today. In the state House she will be a problem solver ready to tackle big issues and that is why EMILY’s List is proud to endorse her,” said Geri Prado, senior director of state and local campaigns at EMILY’s List.
“I am proud and grateful for the support of Emily’s List in my run for the Florida State House of Representative, District 60,” Bellanti said. “I stand with the women and children across our state and will make it a priority to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. I will make it a priority to attain equal pay for equal work. I will fight to do all we can for women and their families have access to healthcare.”
Along with the Emily’s List, Debra has been endorsed by the Florida Education Association, the Hillsborough County Classroom Teachers Association, Ironworkers Local 397, Working Families Party, Brady Campaign for Prevention of Gun Violence, U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, County Commissioner Pat Kemp, Former Mayor of Tampa Sandy Freedman, social activist and organizer Heather Booth, and many others. Debra has also been named a Gun Sense Candidate of Distinction by Moms Demand Action.
Florida House District 60 encompasses the majority of South Tampa, includes Apollo Beach and parts of Ruskin, and is considered a competitive seat.
About Emily’s List
EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILY’s List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
