Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam issued the following statement regarding the passing of Mr. Harold Mikell, an Agricultural Hall of Fame Inductee and former State Forester with the Florida Forest Service:
“Harold’s deep appreciation for forestry began in his youth while participating in FFA, and over decades he dedicated his life and career to managing Florida forests and protecting our precious ecosystems, wildlife, and life and property. We are forever grateful for Harold’s indelible mark on the Florida Forest Service program and his visionary efforts in prescribed burning. May God be with Harold’s loved ones during this time of grief, and may we all celebrate and remember his many contributions to the Sunshine State.”
