League & Partners to Hold Press Call on Amendment 5

Posted on October 1, 2018

Please join LWV of Florida and other partner organizations for a press call at 11:30am ET on Tuesday, Oct. 2 to discuss Amendment 5. The speakers will discuss the disastrous effects that passage of Amendment 5 would have on Florida’s education system before taking questions from the media.

Moderator: Patricia Brigham – President, League of Women Voters of Florida

David Blatt – Executive Director, Oklahoma Policy Institute
Cindy Stuart – Member, Hillsborough County Public School Board
Joseph Pennisi – Chair, Floridians for Tax Fairness

WHAT: Press call with leaders driving the fight statewide against Amendment 5. They will discuss the devastating effects that passage of Amendment 5 would have on our state’s already underfunded education system. Amendment 5 was placed on the ballot by the Florida Legislature and would require a two-thirds super-majority vote of the Legislature to raise any state fee or taxes.

WHEN: Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 11:30am ET
