Chiefland woman claims $1 million prize playing the $20 MONOPOLY™ JACKPOT Scratch-Off game

Posted on October 4, 2018

Melissa Eager poses with her oversized check after claiming a $1 million prize in the $20 MONOPOLY™ JACKPOT Scratch-Off game.

The Florida Lottery announces that Melissa Eager, 48, of Chiefland, claimed a $1 million prize in the new $20 MONOPOLY™ JACKPOT Scratch-Off game at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $715,000.00.

Eager purchased her winning ticket from Shop & Hop, located at 7560 North U.S. Highway 19 in Fanning Springs. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $20 Scratch-Off game, MONOPOLY JACKPOT, launched in September, and features more than $407.5 million in prizes, including six top prizes of $5 million! The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-2.97.

Scratch-Offs are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, generating more than $871 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in FY 2017-18, and comprising approximately 69 percent of ticket sales.
