DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after Andrew Gillum conceded the Florida gubernatorial election:
“I’m proud of Andrew Gillum for running an incredible race right down to the wire. Andrew ran an inspiring campaign that energized millions of Floridians and sparked hope across the Sunshine State. Although we hoped for a different outcome, I’m deeply grateful for Andrew’s commitment to expanding access to affordable health care, building better public schools, and protecting our environment. He refused to get in the gutter with his opponent, and he never gave in to the politics of fear and division.
“Andrew is a rising star in the Democratic Party, and we will continue to rely on his ability to inspire and energize voters in the months and years to come.”
