Enterprise Florida announces new jobs in Florida during Ireland trade mission

Posted on December 5, 2018

Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) today announced that four Ireland companies will be adding jobs in Florida. The company announcements were made this week during a business development and trade mission to Ireland and the United Kingdom led by the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

Joe York, Vice Chairman of the Enterprise Florida Board of Directors said, “We are excited that these four companies have chosen to further invest in Florida and create new opportunities for families here. Florida is an ideal location for foreign direct investment, and missions like this one with the Florida Chamber allow us to tell the state’s business story. I wish each of these companies great success as they grow their businesses in Florida.”

“The Florida Chamber has a long history of supporting the expansion of international trade and foreign direct investment opportunities as an important way to grow and diversify Florida’s economy,” said David Hart, Executive Vice President, Florida Chamber of Commerce. “It was exciting to be in Dublin to meet with leaders from these great Irish companies and congratulate them on their decision to bring their companies to Florida and welcome them to our great state.”

During the Ireland mission, Capstone, SL Controls, Modular Automation, and UrbanVolt announced they will create approximately 150 jobs across the state:

  • Capstone, a unified communications software company, will expand and create a U.S. Southeast office and add 25 jobs in the Tampa Bay area.
  • SL Controls, an Ireland-based engineering firm, will establish a new North American headquarters in Jacksonville and create 20 new jobs.
  • Modular Automation, an Ireland-based manufacturer of automated equipment for the medical device industry, will expand its North American headquarters in Jacksonville and create 7 jobs.
  • UrbanVolt, an energy efficiency technology service, will develop a North American headquarters and add 100 new jobs to the Ft. Myers area.

“As a growing and innovative communications technology systems integrator, opening operations in Florida made sense for Capstone. The business friendly environment, the talent of the people and the growing base of businesses to work with made it a logical location for our continued expansion in the USA,” said Fergus Kelly, CEO of Capstone.

“Florida affords a favourable business environment for business growth, a large pool of college graduates and a robust infrastructure for technology-enabled businesses,” said Kevin Maughan, CEO of UrbanVolt. “It is also one of the core industrial building markets for UrbanVolt, with about 20% of all U.S. warehouses based in Florida. With multiple direct flights to and from Europe and its location on the East Coast of America, Florida is also readily accessible for international management teams.”

More than 237,000 Floridians work in the state’s tech industry, and Florida’s universities are among the nation’s top producers of STEM graduates. Florida ranks among the nation’s top 10 states for manufacturing, and industry leaders in the state produce a wide variety of goods, including aerospace products, batteries, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, boats and more.

Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) is a partnership between Florida’s businesses and government leaders and is the principal economic development organization for Florida. EFI facilitates job growth through recruitment and retention, international trade and exporting, promotion of sporting events, and capital funding programs to assist small and minority businesses. EFI launched “Florida | The Future is Here” to promote the state as the nation’s premier business destination.
