Trumbull to Chair Key Transportation Subcommittee

Posted on December 18, 2018

State Rep. Jay Trumbull has been named Chairman of the
Appropriations Subcommittee for Transportation and Tourism

House Speaker Jose Oliva has named State Representative Jay Trumbull Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee for Transportation and Tourism, the committee charged with oversight of all transportation and tourism development dollars for the State of Florida.

“This is a great honor, and I am pleased and thankful for the opportunity to lead this committee,” said Trumbull. “But this is more than just an opportunity for me personally; this is an opportunity for Bay County and the entire panhandle who are suffering after the impact of Hurricane Michael and will continue to need an advocate for economic development as we continue to rebuild.”

Trumbull added: “In Florida, transportation and tourism go hand in hand, and under Speaker Oliva’s direction, we finally have an opportunity to get some things right. We want to put the state of Florida on a path to becoming the number one opportunity destination in the world, and in the process, we will make sure that the Panhandle takes a leadership role.”

The Panhandle continues to feel the effects of Hurricane Michael that caused billions of dollars in economic damages. Rep. Trumbull continues to work hard in concert with the office of the Governor, Senate and House leadership, Congressman Neal Dunn, and the White House to make sure that we are doing everything possible to reenergize our local economy.
