U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) yesterday released the following statement applauding Governor Ron DeSantis for his action requesting the resignation of the entire South Florida Water Management District Board:
“For far too long the South Florida Water Management District has been more accountable to special interests than to the people of Florida. That changes today, and I look forward to continuing to work with Governor DeSantis to find replacements who make our waterways and environment the number one priority.”
In December, Rep. Mast called on the board to resign after they approved a lease for Florida Crystals—without advance public notice—on land intended to be used for the EAA Southern Storage Reservoir. Rep. Mast served as chair of Governor-elect DeSantis’ environmental and agricultural policy advisory committee.
